Freelancer is alive, and still works under Windows 10!

Good to see this site is still online! And I hope everyone is fine of course.

So, I finally got myself a new desktop PC, and of course it came with the inevitable Windows 10 — which appeared to be not at all that horrific. (I managed to totally skip Win8, and although I cannot prove this, I am convinced this has had a positive effect on my life expectancy.)

The greatest surprise was when Freelancer, against my expectations, just happened to work! And so, even more against my expectations, did all the modding tools! Amazing!!

Btw I still carry a lot of all those old modding tools, and other downloads, in various states of assortedness… If there is some old tool you lost, feel free to ask; I might actually have it.

What did you do to get it work on 10? i tried on my new 10 system and nadda.

do we have to activate NET 3.5 or anyting like that/ thanks for any tips

I guess I was just lucky… I didn’t do anything.

I do have Adoxa’s JFLP built-in into my mod project tho; and my first run was with this mod. So, maybe that “cleared the road”?

Btw I’m on my phone, not my conputer now.

The DirectPlay auto-install stopped working at some point (Windows used to prompt you to install DP, but it doesn’t seem to do so consistently anymore), so that’s usually it. No-CD is also a necessity since SecuROM is blocked by the OS.
