Looking for a place to learn how to model ships
-
ok here is a question for you guys how do you convert the file on gmax so i can import it to milkshape 3d
-
Easiest way is to export it to .3ds in GMax (Unless it doesn’t support the format, does it?).
If it does not, I think there was a GMax plugin for MS3D…
-
GMAX only has a couple of formats and it’s big brothers isn’t among them, there is a plug in for it, but I can’t remember if it was an MDL or MD3 you exported it as.
Drizzt4.0’s tutorial is so out of date, myself and Harrier were constantly pointing people in the right direction over on the old TLR.
-
Unfortunately, most of the tutorials are still locked off with TLR being constantly down…
Could it be OBJ format? I’d have to redownload GMax…
-
ok thx for the help guys
-
There is a poly limit for it however.
And a good plus note it gives you some basic knowledge of coding,
and I think UTF editing, but it’s been a while since I have used GMAX. -
well i have a model put together all who would like to see it can at www.monkeyuniverse.forumonline.biz

ok heres a question anyone have a texturing tutorial by any chance
-
well here is what i have so far
-
i cant seem to find anything about textureing ships so it would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction.

Hey Achilles……
I don’t have a tutorial for Milkshape. I learned using Maya and tutorial videos off of digitaltutors.com. Using the same basic techniques I’ve transfered that to utilizing Milkshapes Texture Coordinate Editor when working on ships within Milkshape.
I wish I could sum it up in words about how to do it… but thats pretty impossible. I think your best chances of learning is to find videos like these across the net and apply them to how they fit your application best.
Hope this helps…
