hey Why, got the MP part of Itano Circus working
just had to update the newcharacter.ini file with info from your mod instead of stuff from vanilla FL

What exactly was the fix in newcharacter.ini?
The only issues I have been having with the server is random crashes.
What version/updates are you running your server with for Itano?
Once I can get it stable I will definitely be opening up an IC server for those interested in getting some MP going.

From what I can gather after talking to darkmarauder, it was a unique issue likely caused by an FLMM deactivation error of a previous mod. I already had a modified newcharacter.ini for the mod that works fine. If there are any problems (which there are, as unfortunately the mod is somewhat unstable in multiplayer), they are not related to this file.

I checked the link from the flak forums and it indeed does bring me to a flawed file for Itano Circus
it looks for a package called ge_fighter which doesn’t exist in the goods.ini file
I did a bunch of checking and found it should read lf_package for the correct starting ship for MP -

This is the relevant code from the newcharacter.ini. The [Faction] is calling for a package named ge_fighter. It is true that this is not defined in goods.ini. It is not defined in goods.ini because the ge_fighter [Package] its looking for is defined right above the [Faction] that is calling it. The [Package] makes all valid references. I do not see the problem.

Well, whatever the cause might be for the MP issues it’s the most beautiful mod I have seen so far.
I am definitely looking forward to the future of Itano Circus.
Why, do you have any future plans of adding player Battleships or other ideas you want to try?
I can’t say enough positive about this mod. The missiles man…THE MISSILES!!! Every time I fire off a salvo my inner child screams like a schoolgirl!

My only complaint. I keep running out of missiles.
Of course if I didn’t get so excited with the fire button this might not be a problem.

I think it has to match a package in the goods.ini file because somethings likt the ships hull that are in that file have no reference and therefore are nonexistant
the package in the goods .ini file also tells the game what power supply, engine, and other extras are on it
with no power supply or engine it can’t fly -

like I said in my last post it seems to need the goods.ini file to have a reference for it to add necessary equipment
even if it used the starflier, the ship wouldn’t go anywhere without an engine and a power supply -
Have you simply looked into the loadout? Everything’s defined there… Yes, even the engine, radar, tractor, whatever.

Thanks rsabantino. I am sure if this is causing any trouble, but it wouldn’t hurt. My mod is actually loosely (understatement) based on 88 Flak as it is the most stable mod I have ever seen, and I remember being told by foxUnit01 that I had forgotten to add a mpnewcharacter.fl. However there is one conspicuous difference between what you just posted and what Fox uses in 88 Flak. 88 Flak does not have what appears to be a loadout section, and 88 Flak runs very stably online. I also know for a fact that I never had issues similar to what DM mentioned here. (http://www.memes.no/88flak/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1458). I still firmly believe that DM’s troubles are simply a FLMM deactivation error or some other similar issue. (Such as making sure to use completely separate Accts folder from 88 Flak. IC and 88 Flak bicker when they have they share Accts folders.)
I also just now used the version that I downloaded off of Starport, and was able to run and join my own server with no problem. All crashes are crashes that happen during gameplay, and thats where the real problem lies, not in the newcharacter.ini. (Although hopefully the mpnewcharacter.fl will help some.)
