Takes about a year.
And lots of persistanse and good contacts.

Atleast thats what it took us to get added.

aye it took us about about 6 - 8 months, to get it on there, nice that we are at the top aswell XD

Well, its upto the site if they want to be on it or not, all they have to do is ask. and ask and ask again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again

Have fun getting them to add those sites. I know we’ve had to work for a LONG time to get on there, so I guess this is the reward of our hard work.

Can’t we just be happy Microsoft actually updated the page? At least now the first link people will see is a site which is part of the full Freelancer community, which participates actively into discussions and which has the FLCN full-front.

Better than TLR or the never-ever-updated LancerHQ, no?

It took months and months of Chees, Worfeh, FriendlyFire and myself all emailing and calling different departments to get this added.

It has cost me around £50 in call charges to Microsoft alone.

If anyone else wants to get added, be prepared to wait a LONG time to get anywhere with these guys. However as now shown, it is possible.

And with it comes that we have been checked on activity ofcourse.

Well i think a simple

Honestly … i dont feel the Need to persue MS to have the FLC added to that page.

we have about 430 members after one year of operation and not one of those members came from MS…

The Game is dead to them… All of our Members Came from the Community and the sites that support this great game … Havens, SP , Swat. Lancers and various other sites that spread the word to players when the global went Down…

i applaud the SP for getting on there… it shows hard work really does pay off…

the future of Freelancer is in the communities hands not Microsofts… So long as there are sites like the Starport , Swat portal . Digital Brillance . The FLC … Lancers , Mod-DB and others the game will live … we on The RIP Team have dedicated our resources to Fading games before and after 9 Years come feb we still run servers and support for Decsent 3… and believe it or not there is still a community out there playing that game as well…

We created the FLC site as a Gift to freelancer players and promised that as long as the RIP team Exists so will that Site.

its just our way of giving back to a game we have come to love… and so long as we all work together i dont see the Game fading away for some time to come…

So again , Congrats SP Staff … Keep doing what your doing

we at SWAT have been trying to get added to that list for about one year now being redirected from one person to another

being an active Freelancer community for more than 6 years (and before being Starlancer related) did not seem to be important to MS
… maybe we asked the wrong people…maybe our almost 7000 registered member are not enough… maybe there are other reasons… i dont know
But seriously I believe that we have a bunch of active FL communities with the self declared task to keep FL running (and FLC belongs to them)… if there is a chance to get them added to that site then it should be done.

Its a community matter to keep that site updated with the active FL community sites.

but still, closed operations (i mean, spreading these news on allready freelancer related sites) wont help that much as if u made a thread on a gamer forum “Freelancer is still alive!!!”, followed by alot of videos and SS

Then why doesn’t everyone ask Microsoft to add the links?

We’ve worked hard to get the list updated. We repeatedly mentioned other sites in different emails (I know I dragged on for at least 6 months and had all the sites listed, not just SP). That they only kept SP, TLR and LHQ is not exactly our fault. We did our best and are already glad we actually GOT there.

The next step is to get more sites on there, but I don’t believe the SP staff should be the sole responsible for this daunting task. We’ve managed to get on there; we made a precedent. Now it’s up to everyone to team up, not just SP, not just SWAT, not just FLC, everyone, and get more people on the fansite list.

But can’t we just celebrate a bit? Isn’t this a major milestone? We proved we could get them to update the page of a 6 year-old game!

i just stated my oppinion based on what is good for the FL community considering the amount of visitors on the microsoft site and the very different FL communities

I wont continue to discuss about it since the views about this topic are very much different and the fact that I can not change the situation after almost one year trying

We are not joking when we say it has taken us months to get this far, each of us contacting various teams and departments. Cheese was lucky enough to hit the jackpot. And for that I owe him a night of beers next time he is down my way.

But as stated elsewhere, it is a major mile stone and so far January has been an incredible month for us all. We should be looking to keep up the momentum and making sure Feb all the way through to december are just as good for our community.

Anyone noticed how TLR have taken this? I would say badly…

We wish to boycut our link on the microsoft website.
We have noticed that starport has been included in the links and
we wish to be in NO way associated with the very site that
USED
lancersreactor’s database backups + downloads only to host it for their own means without permission.
Also not handing the material back on request.
We found out about the link issue from the starport head admin Worfeh who said that he managed to
“pull a few favours”
to get his site listed next to ours.

yup I pm’d MC last night pasted him the link, nothing else. A rather unconfortable convo came out of it.
Told them we (cheese) had to pull favours to get the site listed, witch is true.

Anyway… one word comes into my mind.

Pathetic.

EDIT 2:

To inform you, we DID give away a copy of the TLR archived DB. I have no idea what they did with it but it being indexed fully it comes over 400 MB wich is to big for a standard phpmyadmin import.
