The LHC Rap
-
I posted this on TLR about 4 months ago when i found it on Ars Technica – It has now been posted on the front of the Science Blog so here we go again
This tells the story of the Large Hadron Collider – which has yet to become functional ?? ( and NO it wont blow up universe )
The video is Amusing and Neat and does a fairly decent job of explaning the science on a down to earth level

lol, it wont blow us up, but current theorys suggest that theres a incredibly small chance that a miniature blackhole could appear. wwether or not itll be around for longenough to cause anything, would reamin to be seen (or not lol)

They’ve had it on already (even that was behind schedule)… you know… all that stuff about the coolant leak etc. After that I heard no more from them in the way of the tests. There’s no way they’ll actually tell the public everything though. For all we know they are running it now, and small black holes are appearing all the time. Apparently they are pretty much a certainty (not sure how they figure that out), but they are so minute that they simply evaporate right after forming. Funny stuff. Man… if I was getting paid tons to do that sort of experimental stuff…

Well, ive read that its not going to be online till september time-ish, theres pictures on the net of the problem, the tube has buckled in several places (or melted? i dunno)

LOL ;D

Heh, actually I belive it’s pretty certain there will be micro-blackholes, but they will be so small they will immediately disappear through Hawking radiation, among other things. The blackholes would be too small to actually grow or attract particles at any dangerous level, anyways.
