Where Does Your Nickname Come From?
-
All the other decent names starting with the letter ‘M’ where taken.
Hence this.
I also have ollivier and markus,
ollivier comes from my dog, whose original name was Ollie.
markus comes from the same strain as mapoubelle.Just out of curiosity, do you know what your name means in French?

Well, I’ll have a go. Nightstalker comes from the 160th SOAR Night Stalkers, These guys flew us into Somalia and watched our back while we did our job. Their sacrifice to stay on station and cover us will not be forgotten.

My nickname started off with a character name for a Star Wars chat-based role-playing game. Basically, I wanted something for a name that sounded like it came from another galaxy. Who wants to play with a boring name like Bob or Bill or Tom, y’know.
At the time, I was close with a Finnish girl and after seeing some of the language, I got the idea of seeing what an average saying would be when translated into Finnish. Loosely, according to some online translator (so I don’t vouch for the validity of these translations :P) - Omapainen Yksilo was one of the results when I put in ‘Maverick’.
The name stuck, although on more than one occasion have I being approached by people thinking I am Finnish. They get a bit of a shock when they find out I’m Irish. Omapainen quickly was shortened to Oma, which in turn started some ‘grandma’ jokes amongst those who speak Dutch. ;D

needed a name for a character and i was eating cheese on toast at the time. pretty boring tbh lol

Well, I used to go by the name Chestomagnetic (and many still know me as chesto), which came from someone at school. It’s a shortening of my last name, Chesterton, and I’ve got no idea where he pulled the magnetic from. Anyway, I needed a name one day for a forum and it popped into my head.
Later on, it became untenable for me to continue using that name, so I cast around for another.
I’d just started using Avenger as a shipname, and it seemed to fit, so I started using it.
Nothing too special about it, really.

My original screen name, Descender, came from my undying love for the Descent video games. I was young and unoriginal and wanted to be called “Descenter”, but it didn’t quite work, so I changed the T to a D, and viola.
The iteration of the name “Descender021” came from a story I had written that featured a character who had been identified as the 21st member of a Genetic Enhancement experiment, and had been given the name Descender for his style of falling from behind and above the opponent.
The most recent iteration (first seen on Shattered Worlds) is “Descender|LE”, which stands for “Limited Edition”. I felt since I’d been using Descender for as long as I had, it needed a bit of change. And so, I added Limited Edition to it. laughs Quite the name.
Though, Serious Steve is one I’m fond of. Got that from playing Serious Sam with my dad for a very very long time.

I was always a fan of foxes as a kid, but “fox” by itself was a bit too generic - so I slapped on a “Unit 01” at the end and here I am.
That name’s about 9 years old now, and I’ve since started using “foxBox” where able (from Dr. Seuss, “would you eat dinner with a fox in a box?”), as that’s got decent ring to it and nobody else uses it.
However, I still use “foxUnit01” for forums, out of habit - otherwise, half my logins would be one name, and the other half another name, and remembering different passwords alone is hard enough. =PAs for the Tails avatars, I was a fan of Tails from the Sonic games as a kid, and that has stuck ever since as well. Guess I’ll always be a kid at heart. =3

Since I’ve been a Bountyhunter for a long time i used different version like soulhunter, brainhunter, bountyhunter or simply hunter and also Mindhunter.
At some point i started using mindhunter as my only nickname and used it for over 3 years on different servers before it became my Admin nick over at NU. -
I find it is really funny how many people have asked me over the last few years why I picked this name.
But to explain, this particular name was for my aggressive hunter character so this name was chosen for three reasons.First: My mate makes it quite clear I spend way too much time growling.
Second: I have a minuscule, microscopic amount of actual Native American Blood Heritage.
Third: So I like animal persona’s, but some of these, such as Snarling Sparrow, just sounded hilariously rabid. So I chose to be the Timber Wolf or Grey Wolf, The nastiest dog of them all.
Seemed simple to me at the time, and It has fit me in the end…
