The Tale of Jason Pavanio
-
Prologue:
The ship shuddered, as a missile hit my wing, blowing it off. I stare as my Titan spins out of control, hitting a asteroid, and flying, lifeless, through space. I felt cold, all systems are off beside the ones to keep my alive. What am I going to do? I thought. Then a missile came into sight, heading right for my coc-pit. OH MY GOD!!! I pressed a button, a thick metal door covered the glass. The missile made contact with the metal, making the ship jolt and shake, I banged my head against the back door, falling down, unconscious…

Ch. 1
I opened my eyes, I’m alive? I thought. I turned my head, then I felt a wave of pain, my neck was probably very sprained. I scanned the area, I was in a tube of some sort. A Healer Tube, I thought. A Healer Tube is a giant floor to ceiling tube full of a medical substance that was made for healing the heavily injured. Was I that injured? I thought. I looked out of the glass into the room outside of the tube. The medical substance blurred the image outside the glass, but I could clearly see a man outside of the tube, staring back at me. He press a button.
“Are you OK?” the man asked.
“Yeah…” I managed to say, I then noticed that my vocal cords must be damaged from the neck injury.
“Don’t try to say something too hard, sir,” the man said, “you could fall unconscious again.”
“Where am I?” I asked in a hoarse voice.
“The New London Medical Center, the best in all of Bretonia,” the man said, Then he must be a doctor.
“How long until I can get out of this tube?” I asked the doctor.
“Little over two weeks,” he said, “now, I have a few questions.”
“I will try to answer.”
“What is your name?” I thought for a moment.
“Jason Pavanio,” I said.
“Where are you from?”
“Liberty.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty-eight.”
“What ship were you flying when you were attacked?”
“I don’t know,” he gasped then turned off the comm, and talked hurriedly with another doctor. He reactivated the comm.
“I believe we’ll continue in the morning,” he said and switched it back off. The other doctor picked up a syringe and placed it into the Tube, it came in, injecting me with some kind of drug. A sleeping…. Drug. I thought as I fell unconscious.

Ch. 2
It came up behind me, looming over my Titan as if it was made of putty. It was a fully equipped Outcasts Battleship, complete with harvested Nomad guns. It came into sight, a missile primed for launch, right at my view screen. OH MY GOD!!! I thought, then hit the button that closes the metal view screen shield…
“Mr. Pavanio,” I heard a voice, I opened my eyes slowly, to find myself still within the confines of the Healer Tube.
“Yes?” I asked the doctor.
“You were having a bad dream, we were monitoring your brain waves, what were you dreaming about?” he asked.
“Nothing,” I lied, I couldn’t let them know, not yet. The man seemed stressed, maybe he was doing more than checking brain waves.
“How long till I get out of this… Healer Tube?” I asked the doctor, obviously forgotten the conversation the other day.
“When we found you, you were heavily injured, you will probably be in here for another few weeks,” he responded, he added, “you are having the best medical care Bretonia can offer a individual. Be happy you are in there, and not out here. You can’t breathe normal air at this moment, your lungs were scorched by a massive explosion, the one that probably took you into unconsciousness.”
I nodded and asked, “where will I go when out of this tube?”
“You will be sent into a private room after leaving this tube, we will tell you more about that later. Now, we believe you have amnesia, since you don’t remember much about the dogfight you were in, get some rest, we’ll talk later,” right after the word “later”, one of those syringes popped in and injected the sleeping medicine. I dozed off, instantly unconscious again…

Ch. 3
“We need you this time, Pavanio,” my commander said.
“Why? What did the Outcasts do that needs us to go out near Bretonian space?” I asked. He stopped, turning to look at me, his eyes were serious.
“Somethings wrong, the Outcasts are acting weird, being more brave in fights, we believe they got a super-weapon, we need you to find out, Jason, it’s important for the survival of the Liberty Republic as we know it,” he said in a low voice…
I opened my eyes, still in the medical lab, am I having flashbacks in my dreams? I thought. I looked out of the glass, the doctor was talking to the man who keeps injecting me with the syringes. The doctor turned to me, and pressed the comm button.
“Good morning, Mr. Pavanio,” he said.
“Excuse me, sir, but, I’ve never caught your name,” I said.
“Oh, I’m sorry for not telling you, Jason, my name is Dr. Tang, I’m sure you can’t tell because of the medicine and the glass, that I hailed from Kusari,” he said, “are you ready to be transferred to your medical room?” he asked.
“It’s been two weeks?” I asked.
“Yes, Mr. Pavanio, time flies when your in a medical tube,” Dr. Tang said humorously, then to the syringe man, “release him.” The man nodded and turned to open the tube. “I hope you can walk, cause that medicine is about to be sucked right out of that tube,” he said to me. I nodded. The medicine was slowly sucked out into a vent on the bottom, which I has just noticed. I tripped, falling onto the floor, but then I stood up, able to stand and walk. They opened the tube, I slowly walked out.
“Dr. Long, get Mr. Pavanio a wheelchair,” Dr. Tang said to the other doctor. Dr. Long nodded, and ran off. When I was in my wheelchair, Dr. Tang pushed me into a room numbered 985. The room had a window, a flat screen holo-television, a bed, a chair with a dining table, and a couch.
“This will be your private room, Mr. Pavanio, when you are able to walk completely normal, you are able to walk around outside of the room, and here’s some good news for you, no more syringes,” I smiled at the news, “if you need anything, just press this button,” he pointed at a small remote on a end table next to the bed, “it will contact a nurse immediately, goodnight, Mr. Pavanio,” Dr. Tang said as he walked out of the room. I then lay on the bed, and dozed off…

Ch. 4
My Titan flew in the void of space near Freeport 1, where I was supposed to meet up with a spy who’s been working for the LSF for a while. I docked into Dock 3, and walked toward the bar. When I made it into the bar, and found the spy, we talked.
“Hello, Jason, now to business, the Outcasts have something that counts as a super-weapon. They have a Nomad Warship and are cloning it, making copies that will probably ravage Liberty Space into molten slag,” the spy said in a low voice.
“Where are they gathering?” I asked in the same low voice.
“Omega-11.”
I opened my eyes, another flashback, I thought. I sat up and slowly got off the bed. Just then, Dr. Tang came in.
“Ahh, good to see you trying to walk, ready for breakfast?” he asked. I nodded and licked my lips. He brought in a synthetic food that tastes quite good for it synthetic origin. I gobbled it up and sat on the couch.
“Does this room get Sirius News Network?” I asked Dr. Tang.
“Yes, in fact, we do,” he grabbed the remote and flipped the channel to channel 37. There was a story about the Outcasts on there.
“No one knows where the Outcasts fleet is right now, but the LSF are trying to find them so they can protect Liberty, and Jason Pavanio, a high ranking LSF officer was sent to Freeport 1 to talk to a LSF spy, but he never returned, presumed dead. Bretonia claims that Jason Pavanio is in their best medical center, but hasn’t been investigated.”
“So, your a high ranking LSF officer?” Dr. Tang looked at me, his voice filled with confusion.
“Yes,” I said.
“What were you doing here anyway?” he asked.
“I’ll tell you, Liberty is at risk of being decimated by this Outcasts fleet, so they sent a spy to watch them and locate them. I was sent to Freeport 1 to talk to the spy, I was told they’re massing in Omega-11, I checked it out, and I was attacked, now I’m here in this medical center,” I informed him.
“Anyway, you will be let out of here next week, but I suggest you get at least a week vacation time before doing anymore work,” I nodded and walked back to my bed. I got in, and dozed off while Dr. Tang slipped out into the hallway, shutting the door behind him…

Ch. 5
“Dr. Tang, he’s dangerous, he needs to be killed, a LSF here can be dangerous for us, they WILL KILL US!!!” I heard Dr. Long say, I kept my eyes closed.
“Keep your cool, Hernandez, he has no idea where he is, nor will he ever figure it out, as soon as he’s completely healed, we’ll drop him off in Liberty space, with a note around his neck,” Dr. Tang said back to Dr. Long. His name is Hernandez? Oh my god! I’m captured by the Outcasts! I thought. I put my hand into my pocket, and grabbed my hidden gun. I turned and shot Hernandez (Dr. Long) in the head. Dr. Tang turned, I already had the laser pistol aimed at him.
“You don’t want to do that,” he said.
“Oh, you don’t know how much I want to, Outcast,” I spat at him, his eyes and facial expression changes.
“Time to die, Pavanio,” he said, two Outcasts came into the room. I shot them both, and fell out of the bed, away from Dr. Tang, I got up and kicked Tang in the head. He fell down, unconscious. I took his clothes and put them on. Time to leave. I thought, then I ran toward the door, where a Outcast with a Laser Rifle and a shield was waiting for me…

Ch. 6
I ducked just as a laser blast went by where my head had been, I could smell the ozone of the laser blast as it went by. I grabbed his leg, and tripped him, when he hit the ground, I stood up, and kicked him in the head, his head fell down, he was unconscious. I grab his rifle and ran out the door, heading for the exit. I ran into a squad of Outcasts at the exit, I ducked behind a nurse’s desk and fired at them from behind cover, several of them fell down, holding their hand of their new wounds. I shot one that looked like a commander in the head, he fell down, dead as a rock. The others died from their intense wounds then. I got up, and ran out of the “hospital”. I found a Sabre and took off, heading toward the Cambridge Jump Hole…
