Hello!

Hello friends
My name is Azureus but you can shorten that to Az if you wish. I hail from the UK.
I managed to get this game a week or so ago and haven’t put it down since, completed it a couple of times now and have found the story to be excellent.
Tried to play online and had immediate problems, a couple of google searches and a few webpages later and I came across this place, with a handy tutorial to allow me to play online!
I think I’ll be hanging around here a while …
I’m here as a player first and foremost however I do have an interest in learning how to mod this game, I do have some HTML, CSS and PHP experience and so the syntax of the ini files appears very simple in comparison.
I’m an avid fan of all things Stargate so I hope I am not alone in my fandom here.
So this is me saying hello.
HELLO! lol

Hi,
And welcome to the Starport.
Nice to see new players seeking to know more about Freelancer.
If you are indeed interested to go modding this is the place to be.
There are some realy nice topics and tutorials around here.I wish you a lot of fun in playing Freelancer and modding Freelancer.

Welcome mate! As for Stargate I believe that some mods currently have a few ships, I just can’t remember which off the top of my head
-
Awesome, thanks I’ll look into that
At the moment I have installed quickfix 1.0c, the global server workaround, that updated zlib, and mod manager 1.4 beta.
Is there anything else you guys would recommend?
I’m trying to get the widescreen fix into a working FLMM mod at the moment, but I’m stuck on one particular part and after searching a little (maybe I’m using the wrong terms) cannot find an answer.
I’m trying to replace/adjust a file in the ‘My Games\Freelancer’ folder, is that possible via FLMM at all?
-
I’m afraid not. FLMM only supports modifying your main game folder.
Also, I’d suggest you stick with 1.31. FLMM 1.4 is… quite buggy, to say the least. Some people use it just fine, but others have had nothing but problems.
-
Correct. The problems with 1.4 mainly have to do with using it rather than creating mods for it, as far as I’m aware.
-
I’ll look into using that then instead …
As you can probably see I’ve placed the widescreen fix in conventional modding.
After a brief test I have noticed several interface sections like the server list and character screens have sections out of alignment, I’m going to have to fix that after I look into UI element positioning.
Just did that as a quick fix for myself to start with, thanks to a handy tutorial to do with tekagis treasure mod.
Nice and easy mod to start with
