WHY IS TNG SO SPECIAL?
TNG may be a compilation of many mods but it is very unique in it’s own right. It was the first mod of it’s kind and implemented many new features not found elsewhere.
So what’s so special about this particular version now? Well there is a lot of stuff in this version that many people probably will never realize. A major part of it is that the “Identity” system has been more refined so you can have a more realistic sense of what you want to be whether it be a bounty hunter, pirate, trader, or just a lone freelancer. We have added additional factions & empires for you to have an even broader selection in your identity process.
This version has been optimized for multiplayer due to mass request by players. It is still compatible with single player game, and it will be more difficult then before. One of the most defining traits about TNG is that we have strived to make it one of the hardest mods out there so that when you “get there” it’s not just something everyone can do easily. Also since you now loose ammo, loot, and equipment when you die, it gives an element of risk that was not originally there with the original freelancer and makes things much more interesting. It really makes you think whether you want to fight or run.
Also diversity and many options are available to you from weapons, equipments, and ships. Customization is also a key feature in this game. We are always adding more upgrades for customization to your ships so that you may play the way you want to play and not be forced to just a particular style.

Aurora is one of the oldest tng servers to still remain as a server
Where you can expect meny fights Daily and so on. It takes skill to come on aurora. Were a bunch of friendly guys but we dont take nicely to laming that will be met with force. After 6 years aurora was shut down by its clan dbb They decided to break us all up. We also had a mod that was in dev. but meny files were lost when the main coder Disapeared out of no where sadly. But Afterwhile people tryed to bring aurora up on there own machines but we know that cannot be done. Dedicated servers are the way to go. This is an original Aurora post by: mr_dead
So you want to play on aurora? Well welcome aboard to what is in my opimiom the best and most user friendly fl server on the map. If your new here then this thread is for you. I have been playing here for three months or so. In my short time I have seen and learned much. Its truly a complete society with good guys, bad guys, those who fall inbetween, and living breathing comerce and economy, and most important af all lots of friendly people to play the game with. That said, there are a lots of things to learn to function here in a way that you will find both enjoyable and challenging. I would like to list a few here in this thread. I simply want to cover th basics with out spoiling to much of the surprise that await new players. But its important to get a head start in learning how to be a productive member of this gaming community so that you can contribute to it in a responsible manner and understand what the server means to people and what kind of pitfalls await. So lets get started these following details will be enough for you to get the ball rolling. Further discusion is ofcourse welcome I hope to hear from aurora regulars and from the vernerated oldies, add on to this and fill in the details as you see fit.
OK first thing is first. If you here then you in a place created by other people. These people who run this server have a idea of how they feel a game should be played, so there are rules, if you have not read them them please take some time now to familiarise yourself with them. Click to view rules.
Good, now that you know the basic rules here are a few that arent on the books. There are things that are frowned apon, things you may want to avoid. Act on these guidlines as you see fit but know this being looked down upon by the very people you plan to play with cant be all the fun a game can it?1.Treat every one with respect. Treat them as you would be treated yourself, being overly agresive and or motional during game play is just weird and probably means your unblanced and may want to take a break from games for a while, maybe seek profesional help. I don’t know, but you wont fit in here, that I can tell you.
2. Don’t take advantage of weaker players for the sake of your own pleasure. If you do then your just a being a bully. Which also means your probably a punk. And being a punk on this server will surely get you smacked down. Most all of the senior players here will respond in kind to your behaviour and soon you wont have any place to hide. Making the game virtualy unplyable except for the wee hours of the morning when no one else is on anyway. Wont that be fun for you?
Knowing these things are in the hearts and minds of the real players here will help you to understand what kind of place you plan to become a part of. Weather you stay for a while and then disapear. Or if you come back months later or years down the road. You will have made friends here and on this forum and these threads. That’s something you can enjoy no matter what so make it worth your while and enjoy it as I myslef have learned to and how many before me have been doing for so long.
2nd part
With that said, its free and clear for us to talk turkey about hwo you can get your chars started here.
There are a few types of game play here.
Trader, good guy, pirate, neutral, and mercinary.Trader. Money money money money. It’s makes the world go round right? Well same here. Things like missles and guns and ships cost money. Theres just no way around it. So setting up a trader char is a good first move. There are few options open to you for a new char, so I recommend you buy a rhino. Its effective enough that you wont need it for long and its small enough to slip by a lot of peoples attention. Those people you might ask, well lets just say pirates are in it for the bootay. But don’t fret there are lots of good guys too and they mix it up with the pirates as often as they can , and vice versa.
OK so now you got the rhino you need a trade route. I will illustrate one here that is more then suffcient to build you enough money so that in one day you can choose from any merchant ship you like and from there build a fortune as large as you have a desire for.
TEXAS system is one jump gate away from ny. Go there seek out the planet houston. When you land go to the market and fill your hold with some DIAMONDS. No map a route to planet HAMBURG via the bering system. Two quick jump gates away. Land and seel them diamonds and make big profit! Easy as pie no?
Now heres how things get tricky in this game, you may notice the LIGHTARMS sitting at hamburg waiting to be bought for the trip back to HOUSTON for some more tiddy profits on a productive ride home to get more diamonds. But you cant buy it. How come? You need REPUTATION. It can be an ugly word for veteran players who like to call it “rep” for short. It’s the second most important thing in the game, and its become a part of the economy just as much as the items you may buy or sell. The things is for every race and government npc you will come across there is a reputation score you carry for them, and if they don’t like you, they’ll let you know about it , by refusing to do business with you for one and blowing you out of the sky for another. But don’t worry cause rep is easy enough to get aall you have to do for this situation is run 15 missions here at hambrug or anyother rhienland police faction base to get the rep you need to buy those light arms and complete the “DIAMOND RUN” This is enough to get you rolling there are many other trade routes to find and exploit to scratch the itch of the capitalist in you. So ask around EXPLORE, and don’t be afraid to try new things. This can be a very fun part of the game and money will never stop being a concern for you as long as you plan to play, weather you have it need it or want to spend it, without it your pretty much just spinngin your wheels. SO get the cash fast so you can start to have some real fun.Good guy. Well this one is pretty self explanitory but theres more to it then meets the eye. First things first a good guys job is to protect the weak and to be a shining example of what goodness can be. Your righteous and proud your strong and just, heck man you’re one of the good guys. That’s how you may feel before you meet up with a cadre of clan pirates hunting in OMICRON THETA. If your ready to fight the good fight my best advice to you is practice practice practice. Try An ANCIENTS MAYHEM MEDIUM FIGHTER give some DOOMSDAY MISSLELAUNCHERS there day in court collect your self up some STARBEAMS and beg borrow kill or steal to get your self an ESSENCE OF POWER cause your gonna need the best gear in the game to stand up to the bad guys and the traders and the noobs could realy use your help so get good fast and don’t get discouraged because your not alone in your fight, look to the other good guys for support and advice they give it freely so don’t be shy. Learn the habits and wereabouts of the pirates so you can best learn to take them by surprise if your alone, and always keep plenty of ammo on hand. Good luck to you he who be righteous bro, fight the good fight.
Pirate, well here again practice practice practice. You want to steal other peoples loot most preferably the kind that worth real money on the server. So think LOOT, people get loot when they build rep by shooting npc’s down at popular sp[awn points for said npc’s. So learn were to find these spawn points and be quick and deadly. You may want to try out the SHADOW SPIT FIRE LIGHT FIGHTER, and see if you cant find your self a graviton pulse for it. Remember weaker players don’t have much in the way of valuable loot and don’t realy pose much of a threat to you so let them be, just like in sport fishing its good ethics to let the little fish go. Besides that the bigger fish offer greater rewards. Keep your eyes peeled for the goodies know there clan names and learn there habits, in the beginging its going to be hard on you from them and from the pirates as the pirates area fickle bunch and will accept you only after you’ve learned ther ways. SO try and hang with them get a feel for how they conduct themselves, more then likely if your honest about your intentions to joins there ranks they will be plenty helpful. Good luck pirate, be ruthless be fast and most of all filthy stinking rich, arrrrr! The Mercs job is simple take them down for money. Awho ever they are where ever they hide, you find them and eliminate them for fun and profit. This is a hard job and requires skill patients and perseverance. Make your presence known to your clients be acsesable to be sucsesfull , and be good enough to win the contracts you choose to take on. Don’t go head and take on a contract you cant cover, one you wont get payed and two you wont be called upon for repeat business. Think about your client he wants revenge for wrongs done to him so offer special services like messages to the mark “mr space jockey said to hold this for him” as your torps fire from out of no where. Make sure you get screen shots! You have to prove you did it and you have to make sure your client is happy with the results. The better you get at this game the more money you will make and once you make a name for your self then there will be plenty of call for your services. Good luck to you, then man who kills for profit is a busy merchant in aurora.

Aurora is still here, and the new server has been running for over a year now - game files from the original server have been restored and those with accounts in existence in the later months of the original Aurora will find their characters intact as long as they still retain their account Windows registration entries. The server is listed on the Global Server List with IP address 213.104.161.75 and there is a Facebook group for the server at https://www.facebook.com/aurora.tng
