Forum profiles are public
-
I just noticed that for some reason forum profiles are now public (you don’t have to be logged in to see them). This is a problem for me because I had my hotmail/MSN email listed there as an IM contact and it showed up for anyone to see. I don’t really have a problem with random people seeing it, but what I do have a problem with is spambots seeing it - I am trying to keep this email spam-free. I would appreciate it if either profiles or selective information such as email and IM contacts are kept visible only to logged in users and if you change them to be public to post a notice on the site before doing so.
Thanks. -

Thanks.I now removed all communications fields from being visible for anonymous users.

This is what I can’t figure. You say that profiles are Public but, I can’t find the Members List area at all to even view a Member much less their profile.

That’s because there isn’t one. Think it’s obvious at that point.

Question is, why not?
Is this something later to build in?

I guess we’d have to look for one, but I’ve searched around a bit and, surprisingly enough, there doesn’t seem to be any working and simple module for that for Xoops.
Since it’s not a critical thing to add, I don’t know when/if we’ll get one.

Simplicity at last. No more explaining as to what I was asking about. sigh
Q: Where’s the Members List at?
A; It’s simple, there isn’t one. It’s not critical.
It may not be critical but, they are widely used for finding not only members but friends as well.
I find it to be very helpful at times and have had some good advice by using it.
Thanks for the final answer.

And what we were giving you were possible alternatives. What, you mean you’d prefer us saying “No, there is not a single way of finding and listing members.”? We tried giving you the next best thing. Guess next time I’ll stick to the short answer, if that’s what you want?

Okay, thank you.
