Now …… who’s project is next ? I’m interested in doing stations or objects that you could find floating in the universe, an unknown object here, an automated mining drone there … etc ( I for one like to see other things in the universe aswell, not just ships and stations). I just need you to provide some pics as guidelines and we’re cool.

One thing I’ve always though would be cool looking is a capital-grade shipyard INSIDE an asteroid. Think of the standard FL asteroid bases with cylindrical bays scaled up several times, remove the docking bay door and build a shipyard inside the bay itself.

Has anyone ever tried to do this in Freelancer ? I’m not even sure if the scale and detail amount of such a model would go well with the game’s engine.
Btw Predator, I could do something closer to your “hotel” design but that would probably up* the poly count considerably. You’d still want it that way ?

I wasn’t talking about any super high-poly lol.
The structures can all be very simple, including the interior construction areas.
Tell you what, if you can model an asteroid with a cylindrical hole in one side, I can fill it with the shipyard stuffs and shoot it back to you.

Thx man. Trying to do my part … since I loved playing mods I might as well help the ppl that make them. As you see my models are kinda basic, with no textures but even so, if some find them useful means I achieved my goal.
Arvis Taljik, if you already have some low-poly stuff built can u give me an archive with them ? Maybe I could use them in this or other future projects. Usually when I model something it’s a cross between a low-poly and detailed model, that’s why the poly count on the finished* model (what i post here) is not that low. I would like to keep adding detail to a model but I remember it’s a game so usually I stop at around 10.000 polys. Speaking of which, nowadays what’s a “usually-found” poly count for a model -> ship, base, others ?
As I said in an earlier post now I’m working on a personal project also. A detailed capital ship but since time is limited it will take me quite a wile to complete it, if I’ll ever complete it lol. It’s not the first such project I start and get bored of half way through the work. Still, making models-by-request in my spare time wile I’m working on my own stuff keeps me interested/on-track

I don’t have any sort of repository of things I’ve modeled for the most part. I normally purpose-build items from scratch as I need them. If you’d like to collaborate on this asteroid-shipyard though I’d be more than happy to swap ideas and work on different portions together.

Just letting you guys know I’m working on a new project atm, a detailed ship. I dunno if it can be used in the game as it might end up with a pretty high poly count but once it’s done I’ll get back to your requests and help you shape your mods a little more the way you like them. It could take me a while to do this model since I kinda hit an inspirational wall when it comes to the ship’s backside, I just cant find a shape for it that I feel comfortable with. But I’ll keep trying that’s for sure
Btw I’m always looking for pics I can add to my “ideas” database, meaning, sketches or images of ships, bases or other cool scifi objects or stuff in general that I could model or use as an inspiration for an original model so please feel free to post here that sort of images of stuff you like as it could help me a lot in my current and future projects. Thanks.

Decided to take a break from the detailed ship and do a little side project. I made this ship just for fun in a couple of hours after a pic i found on the net. If you find a use for it cool, if not, I’ll blow it up

Btw I update the images on the first page so that now all the images display here on the forum instead of showing up like a link. It may take a wile for the page to load for some ppl but least you get to see all the models without having to open and close a bunch of web pages.

Hey Kicking models there, I’ve made a few and was wondering if you don’t mind posting the link for the tempest. that is a kicking ship.
Also do you mind if there is edits done to your ships as long as your giving proper credits. By edits I mean adding extra items, and moving vetrexes around to change the ship size of the model?
I have a KICKING WIP Gun that is like the colliections planet bombardment guns that I’d like to add to a few models. But may have to change it around some to get them to work right.
