I heard that it is even possible to do it more simpler - Just put the file “favicon.ico” into the root directoy.

Yes it’s called a favicon, and there are many ways to put it there… one way would be to use a (free) domain name lie .co.nr, they let you add a favicon by yourself. The image can be anything you want, as long as it’s an .ico, as in converted to it unless it already isn’t one.
