Dead Jesus, I hate Win7
-
Since installation this hunk of steaming crap has crashed repeatedly, Explorer constantly freezes, and 95% of the time clicking “Advanced” on the Firewall results in absolutely nothing. Right clicking (after about a half hour) results in Explorer restarting, and 50% of the time playing any media file ends in the whole system frozen with a nifty effed up noise nearly ruining my speakers. I figured since it was early they’d have some issues but OMFG I want to kill some one after an hour of interacting with my computer now. And there are still heaps of unnecessary programs and processes running, wasting space while providing that extra security hackers around the world love so very much.
takes a breath
It’s still possible to install XP afterwards and Dual Boot, yeah? Didn’t waste too much on buying this headache, but it’s still money wasted at the moment. And yea, my Mobo, Processor, HD, etc are all new and show as supported.

Obviuosly it didn’t installed properly or there’s some driver missing OR you have some shitty crapped out windows version …… cause I have this windows for far longer than you and I had like ZERO problems in several months … which I can’t say about XP, I had problems with that one like every few days.

Jesus… & Windows in the same sentence???
Score 1 for the mighty (& now functional… compared to release version) Vista… XP is still #1… for “stability” (lolz)
W7… happy to say (and after all that “better than vista” hype) F.A.I.L.
lol better we all just use linux… I hear FL works well under Linux 8-)
oh… and Explorer is crapola… Firefox forever!!!
^^ yeah… non productive posting… but whataya do 'eh… -

It does except these clienthooks
Why does just about every good Mod use them now …
About windows: I have to say I only start it up once in a month or so, and I don’t have any problems with my computer now! Linux just works!

oh… and Explorer is crapola… Firefox forever!!!
Couldn’t have said it batter myself
Otherwise, this guy has some serious problems with his win7 install… what’d you do, scrape the DVD with cotton wool for a half hour?
I’ve had W7 in the past, and I have to say I loved it. The only reason I didn;t like it was that it couldn;t tun some really old DOS and other games…

Well I wish you hadn’t used the good Lord’s name in the title, despite your understandable frustration.
Windows is nothing to do with him, and Bill Gates stole it from IBM in the first place.
Most people on the net say there are far less problems with Windows 7 than with Vista.
My view:
Make sure you have a proper installation CD/DVD, not a downloaded one, format your hard disk, and re-install it.
Then disable Security essentials or whatever it’s called (because it causes all sorts of display problems, hangs, and stops Freelancer from working), and you should be back in business.

I downloaded an upgrade from Vista to Win 7 and haven’t had any major problems. Then again, I followed all the instructions on backing everything up in case something did go wrong.
Did you use Windows Easy Transfer? Or did you just start installing once you got it? Did you go from Vista -> 7, or did you do a complete fresh brand new install. Sounds to me like it got buggered up big-time along the way (but you know that already).
Yes, you can dual-boot XP and 7. Go here and scroll down to Method 2 (because you have Windows 7 installed first).
Personally, if Windows 7 is messed up, I’d wipe your drive before doing any of this. Why dual boot with an OS that doesn’t work?
-
You clearly have some issue going on because Windows 7 is far cleaner and leaner than any other MS operating system I’ve tried. Maybe some unstable driver or a bad install.
Psst… Never do “upgrades”. Doesn’t work for any OS.
-
I don’t have W7 myself but, I downloaded the game on a friends pc with it and everything worked fine on the first run in game and even since. SP np. MP, can’t seem to find an MP ID though. Not sure what happened there?
It doesn’t even show an ID in the FL.exe file. :-?
I’m still running XP until they do away with it or make W7 perfect.

1.1 patch.

What’s a Spanish name have to do with “The Allmighty”?
(Heyzoos) <-phoneticI never do “upgrades”, they’re always fully clean installs. Full drive wipe (or in this case, new drive) and re-partitioning. The still fresh smelling wrapping with its purchased key is on the bookshelf. Drivers are all Win7 specific, from their originating manufacturer web sites.
It is, however Win7 x64. Though I had very very few issues with XP64, in fact I can’t really recall the last problem I had with a 64 bit driver / program with it.
Thinking back; anyone running .Net 4 having any of these issues? Had to install that for Visual Studio 2010 Do have a 2008 DVD, mebbe I’ll nix .Net 4 and go back to an earlier version 'n stick with VS 2008. Curiosity does some times get the better of me, since 2010 is still Beta.
Oh and by Explorer, I meant Windows Explorer, not the browser
IE only gets used for quick modem restarts.Reason I asked about Dual Booting is because I’d ran across quite a few random posts noting the boot loader was different somehow. All my previous builds have had 2+ OS’s without any issues.

Actually, yes it is different. With Windows 7, you get a screen with white bars at the top and bottom, and then it asks you “Do you want to run Win7, or an earlier version of Windows?” If you choose “Earlier Version”, then you get the old bootloader.
