Hello there freelancers,

I am from Italy.
I just arrived here. I bought Freelencer a lot of time ago and I played just a few levels as single player. Then I forgot that game for years.
Now I am playing again, but…wow…it seems I have some problems following the directions of the single player story.

Well, I hope to write an understandable english and hope to be back here soon…sure I will ask some advices for the single player mode.

I will explain here my “game problem”.

My Trent is in the following situation:

Level: 11
Location: Dublin System/Battleship Hood
Mission: Defeat Hovis in a one-lap contest of speed

Ship: B 907 A “Crusader” - Bretonia Heavy Fighter

Comoddities cargo empty

First mission step: Meet Hovis in space near the Racecourse.

Well, the problem is I find impossible to defeat Hovis in the race. I ran the race over 10 times and I always lost the race. Now I want to go ahead with the game and finish it. There is any advice, suggestion you can give me so that I can pass this step?

Maybe I need a particular ship, or I have to use a particular procedure to get my Trent win this race. I used my boost, I tried anything I know to go faster even I tried to give the “Go to” command, but it doesn’t work during the race.

Actually I havo no enough money to buy a new ship and then re-buy the current ship.

I fear that with a cruise I will have too damage after the race.

Is it the only way to win the race?

but I think I need the heavy fighter after the race to survive. That’s the point, a light frighter can’t compete with Mollys.

I will try but I’m quite sure I will die in the first combat after the race. Even if I saw that whatever ship you have in the single player game the max speed on the speeometer is always the same: it doesn’t change. Are you sure a cruise is faster?

just to know what do you mean with “thruster” and what do you mean with “cruise flight”?

what I know is that a thruster is an item to mount on the ship, but I really don’t know if it’s what I use with the “TAB” key or what else.

With “cruise flight” you mean free flight or what?

Please assume I’m italian and I don’t get exactly all that you write.

Another warning - Hovis will have his cronies (his bad pals) shooting at you near the end too!

So be sure you have some repair botts and shield batteries, and watch out!

It is hard, but keep trying and you will succeed!

Oh so he will shoot at me…damn it! Thanks for the warning. Obviously if I shoot him down I will fail the mission, I think.

Well, I couldn’t beat him my first few tries either. In the end I had to leave the plot line for a while I flew around and made enough money to by a ship more appropriate to the mission.

What’s the best ship for beat him?
