Is it possible to change the background of the Nav map to show a different system/nebula background?
Changing that background to a different one.

Yep sure is, all you have to do is go into DATA\INTERFACE\NEURONET\NAVMAP\NEWNAVMAP\nav_prettymap.3db with your choice of UTF editor (i use UTF v2.0 which is in the forge), go into the texture library node -> go to fancymap.tga -> then export the MIP0 node under the .tga extension, you can then put any image that is of the same size (pixle’s) and in either uncompressed .tga or .dds, if you use .dds, change the MIP0 node to MIPS to signal that it is a .dds texture. Thats about it, the only hard bit is finding the right texture you want
Ozed.

Alright, that worked out wonders! Thank you. Now, just wondering how to change the string of text at the bottom that says “Sirius Sector”

Wasn’t there a tool out there from Adoxa for that one? Wasn’t it FLHack?
-
If anyone can find it, that would be great. I’ll continue watching this topic.

Can’t speak highly enough of the territory.dll. Allows naming of any sector, anywhere on the map. As adoxa says, you still need to hack the resources.dll. This where you need to go,
1285 = (MAP NAME ie: SIRIUS MAP, SOLAR SYSTEM MAP etc)
1252 = is RHINELAND
1251 = is KUSARI
1250 = is BRETONIA
1249 = is LIBERTYA not so useless piece of information for the grammatical purists among us, are these entries
1412 = AMBIANCE VOLUME
1655 = AMBIANCE VOLUMEI suppose it depends which side of the pond you come from but i prefer it spelt the english way which is AMBIENCE. It’s like the word TIRE and TYRE. To me the word tire means i’m tired or feeling tired, not some black rubber thing i put on my motorcycle or car. List goes on lol

:lol: I didn’t know that. Good to know though; as a non-native speaker I’m a an anglophile, kinda, as far as the language goes.
What about ‘grey’ and ‘gray’? Is that also a US vs. UK thing?
Btw isn’t there a spelling error somewhere in the ini data? An “ie” instead of “ei” issue iirc…

There’s also the famous “er” VS “re” or “or” VS “our”. British English differs in quite a few ways from American English. Just remember that if you want to use Brit, you need to rewrite all of the infocards and names, as FL is American.

Btw are there Japanese and Spanish versions of the game? The hack might then semi-easily cover Rheinland and Kusari too.
On a slightly more serious note: I once contemplated to translate all texts into Dutch, to get some smaller kids in the family into playing the game. Of course, I’ll never actually do that. Unless I get fired.
Oh, the error in the ini files is a Rhienland ship somewhere.
