Run Multiple mods without deactivation
-
Hello there
I hope this is the right place.
I was wondering whether it is possible to run multiple MP mods on the same Windows account without deactivating one mod or the other.
Usually,to switch between mods one has to deactivate one MP mod through FLMM and then activate the other mod.But i want to to know whether one can have multiple FL icons for different mods on same Windows account and in effect not use FLMM.
Something like this, I guess-

Make several copies of a fresh FL installation on your hard disk. Only one should be named Freelancer.
You will need to use FLMM for this:
One at a time, activate the first mod you want to use. It will go into the Freelancer folder. Then rename the modded folder as the mod name, e.g. FLRRJDS282r3 (unashamed plug - try this mod!)
Rename one of the other folders as Freelancer.
Activate the next mod you want. Rename the folder to the mod name like before.
Repeat as many times as you like.
Wen you have finished, ensure you have one clean copy of plain FL still.
Each time you want to play, you must:-
1. Rename the Freelancer folder to the mod name, or “PlainFL” whichever appllies - be sure you remember what mod it was each time you play!
2. Rename the mod folder you want to use as “Freelancer”.
3. Rename the folder “C:\Documents and Settings(accountname)\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts” to something with the mod name in it. If you don’t do this there will be conflicts and crashes because different mods have different equipment and/or ships in them.
4. Start your game.
You can easily write a batch file to select the mod you want and do the renaming for you in a second.

I am running 3 mods without FLMM. It is realy simple.
-
I have a clean vanilla FL directory backuped.
-
When I want to play a new mod I just make a new folder somewhere - in
my case it is in …/Mods folder. -
I give it a name of the mod - for example MOD1.
-
Then I copy all of the vanilla files into the MOD1 folder.
-
I unmark the Read Only in Properties for all the files.
-Then I pick the file containing the mod. In these case it is
MOD1.zip.FLMOD.-
I delete the .FLMOD from the name.
-
Now I have a simple MOD1.zip file.
-
I unzip it into the MOD1 folder.
-
Of course overwrite the vanilla files.
-
I run the mod and enjoy it.
It is realy a simple copy - paste procedure. Of course these are some mods that will not work properly without FLMM, but I have only one such mod in my PC atm.

As you see I am running 3 from 5 mods with copy-paste and it is working. Only Discovery is via FLMM couse the mod is corrupt when not activated via FLMM.

actually FLMM is not needed to activate any mod. you can manually read the script and make all the changes you want, yes, even the optional changes by interpreting the data tags correctly. ofc it is more complicated and kinda waste of time as the same funcions are to trigger easily with FLMM. generally, any work around the activation/deactivation is unnecessary and always more complicated than staying at the good old school FLMMing. sure it depends on the CPU frequence, how fast activations and deactivation are. in some cases and with some week computers it is usefull to make multiple copies but still to use FLMM.

Or you can do it like this:
1. Install good ole freelancer
2. Make a winrar or winzip archive of the freelancer folder and call it “Freelancer.vanilla.Reload” (you will need this later)
3. Use FLMM to install the mod you want, lets use the “Itano Circus” mod in this example.
4. go to your program files folder and make a folder called “Microsoft Games.Itano Circus”
5. Copy the Freelancer folder (now with the mod installed) to the “Microsoft Games.Itano Circus” folder you just made.
6. Navigate to/find the freelancer launch icon in the:Microsoft Games.Itano Circus\freelancer\exe folder, right click it and make a shortcut, rename it to the mod name (Itano circus), drag and drop it on your desktop.
7. Go back to FLMM and restore backups.
8. Open mods folder using flmm tool menu and make a new folder called “Itano Circus savegame activator”.
9. Copy a script from any of the mods and paste it into the new “Itano Circus savegame activator” folder.
10. Now open the script you just pasted with some program, i use Notepad++ for this, its freeware.
11. delete all script content and input this:
Remember to only paste the mod name and not the savesafe values.
Save it.
12. The savegame activator needs some content to work with flmm so make a folder inside it and name it: “DATA”, copy-paste the shortcut you just made into the data folder.
Now to play Itano just:
Activate the savegame folder using FLMM and your savegame activator mod……
And run the mod directly using the Desktop shortcut you just made.13. You could do this with all your mods and only leave the savegame activators in there that would make FLMM load quick.
14. You could run a search on:“.flmmbak” in your modded Freelancer folders and delete them all to save space.
I reckon this is the only way to avoid having to manually mess around in the savefiles, also you get around that some mods are set as savesafe=true and do not with this setting create a savegame folder.
Have fun.Ras
