This is a great site

Hello everybody!
I’m an old codger coming back to Freelancer after a few years away. I did a fair bit of FL modding back then, but never going beyond the ini files. Now I’m back into it and digging a bit deeper. We’ll see how far I get before the hole collapses….
I’m quite amazed at how far modding has gone with Freelancer. Some of you modders are either geniuses or insanely driven, probably both. Well, it is kinda fun.
A bit 'o personal info:
I’ve been programming professionally since the mid-70s, mostly mainframe stuff but a bit of everything else, too. Lately I’ve mostly been concentrating on DRP and technical writing. Probably I’m catching modder’s fever because I’m not getting enough programming in anymore.
I’m learning loads of stuff from this site. I hope I can contribute something back. In the meantime, this old dog’s going to try learning a few new tricks.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Starport!
Freelancer truly is a great game, and modding is not only rewarding to the community, but also to the modder himself. If you do choose to make a mod, you’ll find everything you need, right here. So, welcome to the community, mate. Enjoy your stay!

Welcome OneMoreTime
Look out for Lancer Solurus, he’s another mainframe sysprog, you may have common interests. I’m an ex mainframe systems engineer, giving these daft young layabouts stick from time to time over wanting ludicrous resolutions and 9,000 Gigs of RAM and a 64-way 90-T-Flop Cray for running Freelancer!
BA had their 15,000 agents all online at once in 5MB on a 5-MIP uni-processor!
ROFL!
