Mysterious computer freeze

i am having a mysterious glitch when launching from bases.
the computer freezes during the loading screen, and none of my efforts can get it to work.
does anyone have any idea why this is happening? my computer is old, but it has never frozen before.

This doesn’t seem to be affected with your computer hardware but rather with your mod.

I am not a FL mod developer but I would guess a screwed up encounter zone or faction…

50% of the time this is fixed by going into audio and disabling 3d sound.

Yes, it could be 3D sound, but most likely encounter problems, or patrol paths, or the ship model that you are flying or its sur or mat file if you are running a mod.

Try vanilla FL again to be sure it is a mod problem. Be sure to delete the saved game files, so rename or delete the folder My Documents\My Games\Freelancer. But this problem will normally kill FL when you start it, not on launch.

If you are having this problem with vanilla FL then it might be 3D sound.
