Lan help
-
Hey guys. I know there are heaps of post about lan not working and believe me I’ve looked at just about them all.The situation is this:
Me and my mate are both using windows 7 on a university network. The network requires authentication to for anything getting out to the net but it doesn’t require anything to get between computers. We’re very keen to play some freelancer over the lan
Heres what I’ve tried so far
● Diasbled IPv6 through both the registry and through LAC properties http://www.tothepc.com/archives/disable-ipv6-on-windows-7-vista-pc/
● Upgraded to unofficial patch 1.4
● Unistalled Avira antivirus
● Disabled windows firewall
● Downloaded the patch for the other GUN server (dont think this is required for lan play though?)
● Ran both the server creator and game as admin in XP SP2 compatibility mode
● Tried the direct connect exeNow when I start a server and open the game in the lan server list it gives the ip address as a IPv6 eg fe80::837:bc4a … no matter how many times I disable IPv6. When I try to connect it will just give the timeout error. My mate can see the server but gets the same timeout message. The server load jumps up to about 90 while I’m trying to connect then nothing.
Am I missing something blatantly obvious or does it just dislike me. Keep in mind that I can play other games fine over the lan eg UT3, COD etc

check all your network adapters (incase Fl is usin a diff one to the one u turned Ipv6 off on).
confirm using status of net adapter that its being assigned a ipv4 address by your network.
did u install freelancer 1.1 patch (prob wouldnt help with ip)
could be the network your on only passing ipv6 but i duno im not an expert
