Hack request - smoothing threshold
-
we all know, that whenever two faces of a model, wheter cmp or 3db have two common vertices, theyre welded and smoothed starting with a certain angle. now, is there an offset where it is defined, what this angle has to be (in radiants or degrees)?
a higher request or a further step would be the creation of a plugin which would seek in the utf for a certain node where the threshold is defined (added by modder) and weld the model by this threshold rather than by the default and only by the default threshold when the node is not present where the library is looking for it.
sure for graphic purposes that would be an extension. does someone know (or can find) some possibility like that? -
Doesn’t this fall more into the modelers domain than anything else? Although I know how inconvenient it can be to keep track of welded/unwelded faces, you must model to the engine’s specifications. In my experience, there is no smoothing threshold of any kind. If two faces are welded, they are smoothed. There doesn’t seem to be anything more to it than that.
