Milkshape Crash

I’m trying to make a hitbox in Milkshape 1.7.6, but every time I try to use the ConVex tool or the SUR exporter it CTDs. What’s weird is that there’s no warning at all, no “MS3D.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close,” it just jumps straight to the desktop as if I pressed ALT-F4.
I upgraded my video card drivers but that hasn’t prevented the crash and I don’t see why Milkshape would need more than 512MB of RAM or 64MB of GPU memory to select a location to save a sur file or use the ConVex tool. There must be something specific causing the crash, because there’s no dialog saying MS has crashed. What’s causing this, or has anyone else experienced this kind of crash and found a solution?
Edit: Now I can’t save CMP files. Didn’t experience any of this on another computer.
Edit2: Nevermind, turns out some plugins were conflicting.

Have you tried 1.8.5beta? I think your registration key is valid for all versions.
I had a problem for a short while where MilkShape crashed like this every time I tried to save a file, in the folder browse window, if I didn’t start typing a filename within a few seconds. It cleared by itself and is sound again.

I still can’t get the ConVex tool to work, which is a problem because I need it to make a good hitbox quickly, but at least it actually tells me that Milkshape has stopped working now. The SUR and CMP exporters seem to work, on the other hand. Seems to be a plugin conflict that’s causing all these bugs and crashes.

The 1.8.2, 1.8.4, 1.8.5 are much better, and reliable.
