The Abyss
-
[d]The Abyss is a single player modification which adds 13 brand new missions for the player.
A beta or teaser including the first mission will be released soon. (Hopefully with in a week or two)INTRODUCTION
The Abyss is a whole new system previously undiscovered to the sirius sector. The Liberty Navy
and a few other factions have made “camp” here, But with an ongoing threat of attacks from an alien species, and eachother, these factions must battle it out for “The rights of ownership”, And their right to survive. You play Edison Trent, and you are the Navy’s hope of strength within the abyss, No expense has been spared. They will provide you with ships, equipment and support of the highest standard to help you complete your missions.
The Navy in The Abyss has been given permission by the capital Planet Manhatten, to use
“all means necessary” to create a strong hold including the use of any ship and weapon, even if
it was designed by another faction that is hostile to The Navy.As you progress through the missions and make a name for yourself, other factions will later try to convince you into join their cause too.
Through completing the story missions you will actually be helping in the bulding process within the system, either through successfully defending mission bulit base’s and other usefull objects and features, Other mission created base’s,
objects etc which you can “liberate” through missions.More will be added into the full set of missions (or full mod).
The plan is to have freelancing characters wanting to start clans (new factions) and what better way than to recruit Sirius sectors finest.MODIFICATION UPDATE
I’ve recently discovered a whole new area of the mission scripts that i hadn’t known existed (or forgot about). These new finds have inspired me into adding more samples of “Life in the Abyss” and expanding the “Demo Version”. Because i am currently working alone, the release date has had to be extended, but i can honestly say “i definately think its worth it”.
I will post some screenshots soon too. (possibly a video)
I’d also quickly like to thank Gibbon for permission to use his prison structure and bar music from the wonderfull phoenix mod. - (Full version)
And Chips, for inspiring me with great idea’s (even if they are not exactly his idea, they definately had influences) - (Demo and Full version)video link:

COMING SOON.[/d]
EDIT: This modification has now been intergrated with The Astrodome modification

Sounds intresting! ^_^

Abyss… A name of a system in my mod (but it’s Abyss, not The Abyss…), did you mind me to use the name? hehe.
I watched the video, it’s almost fine but the computer you used for recording is bit lag.
Your mod reminds me of a another mod made by my friend in 2005. He make the 4 houses navy and order and nomad fleets fight in same system (bottom unknown), and that’s pretty fun and exciting to fight the nomads every night
Keep your good job!

Sounds good! Would you like to add it to Freelancer Stories project?
From what I understood, is it gonna be a mod you have to pay for?
-
well, you can, but not for Freelancer mods. Back in the time Microsoft allowed us to modify the game the agreement still contains, that we may not use any of our results for commercial purposes. we can recieve donations for keeping our projects and websites, but no regular charge.
-
You don’t have to thank me for anything. You asked for ideas, I threw out some generic thoughts - that aint worthy of a mention!
@ Other posters. I see no mention of charging, so until the OP (that’s original poster) says differently, I’m going to assume you’ve all been smoking something illicit… way to contribute

No, in other words -
You cant charge people for freelancer mods. You can ask for donations to keep sites/servers running, but that’s it.

Nah, in other words, PolarBear said something completely random and derailed this topic.
Now please get back on track
