It is time again.

One of the very oldest Freelancer servers is closing forever.

Berlin200X, administrated mainly by Max Immelmann, his wife Immelfrau and the server guards, was once one of the very biggest FL servers focussed on pvp and specific clan wars. The community had it unique style of wars, which resulted usually in heavy fights for some weeks without leaving the enemy doing something in a another system. The wars lasted just a short time, though, and the players almost never forgot the respect of each other even though the heated battles.

In 2006 an argument within the server crew resulted in a new server being opened, Drachennest200X, which was closed at February 2008. DN200X was the original devel of the FlSES-webinterface.

There is also some minor discussion if a goodbye event will take place. If it does, it is most likely that new players get all the fighting equipemnt upon creating a new character. So feel free to participate then.

Somehow when I thought about the server today some old memories came back.

Old clans, such as Dark~ and [Templer], while the last one I only saw in the chat window and never fight myself, terrorized players all along Sirius on many servers. They didn’t communicate or only outside of the game in the forums and did attack everyone they saw on their flight.

Uh, there was also Messingno. clan on DN200X which all shared the same Freelancer nick. Somewhat with “/[…]IIIIIII” or so.

Old clanwars, ]Imperium[ vs. the D³ alliance (consisting of Team_DK, Draco & Diablo) and the good old events like LMS and bountyhunts. Eh, I recall how I was about 2k away of a bountyhunt-target and it had low armor while 3-5 people were shooting at him. I spammed wasps and gained the kill. Couldn’t be more skillless at all.

Strange, at which kind time passes if you have internet.

Although I just started plyaing Freelancer online in mid of 2006 (I didn’t got internet earlier, unfortunally) at Drachennest, you could still see that it had the same roots as Berlin.

Berlin is also the server where my clan, ]Imperium[, was founded six years ago as a anti-pirate clan, though we moved meanwhile to a military role.

So much for the fairy tale hour, eh.

There might be a last event @ Berlin server.

I have got a crazy idea, let’s all join there then!

It might be the server’s last breath, but let it be a rocking one!

You will start with a fully equipped eagle anyways.

Plus: One thought of myself and not yet discussed by the server admins of Berlin, but as a motivation…Would some servers donate some prices? For instance, if someone wins a event he can get X credits/ship at that server?
Think about it this way, it might be also a chance to get a new player to your server, so all parties would be happy, won’t they?

Plus:²: You might want to show yourself at the event with a server tag, like [WTS]Predator (example) so you can get a bit of advertisement, too!
