If it doesnt, you will no longer see a blank page, but you will get a HTTP 500 internal server error response (on any page that has a critical error for that matter).

Quite apparently OP thinks otherwise. That’s rather unfortunate.

What obstacles prevented us from obtaining this domain sooner?

It was still owned by that random Jason guy who tried to use it to promote some kind of online browser game. Then it fell into disuse before being put back on availability, as far as I know through an auction.

Did someone just literally say “here’s the domain” Or was it more a “I’d like to get you the domain”

Or is that classified

There was an auction. It is common for link farmers to snatch domains that still receive traffic.

Thanks to a group effort, we won that auction. Any more information doesnt really matter.

Must admit, used to think the domain register holders (on behalf of whomever bought it) used to sell old domains in bulk to such sitters… so really glad it’s going to be back to what it should be - Freelancer

But the current isn’t ? As from my point of view, the only Lancer’s Reactor will remain the existent one, and not the new (well old) domain you acquired. It might be a great achievement though, but think about this… do you really expect TLR members to come to join the “new” one that is hosted by TSP ?

Why do people assume it is only to try and steal members? Utterly baffled by this perception. Members post on places they want to. If people want to post on a site, they post on a site. If they don’t, they don’t. You can’t “steal” members… so where is this perception coming from? :roll:

By the simple fact that there can’t exist two domains having the same name. In our case, we will have TLR.com and TLR.org… what point exists in this ?

Look, the TLR should be viewed in this way: It holds the archive and any news that gets posted. This is how it is and how it should be. It will serve the global FL community at large… even if its not as big as it once was.

Let the TLR rest finally, the community that it once held has dispersed and is mixed into other communities…

The perception that TLR has a community still is silly… TLR.org has old members from TLR.com But SO does this site. Does that mean we are BOTH TLR Communities? No. It simply means we all found a different “home”

You can think what you like, about us having “hidden” motives etc… You can bet your best sunday dress and a packet of minstrels that we are being as transparent about everything as possible. You may think this was only done for members… Um hello? What part of “We are doing this as a service to everyone because we feel its right to do so” If we get members out of it… so what! Its a GOOD THING if we do, it shows us that there are STILL people out there that are interested in the same thing we are… Freelancer.

Why does it HAVE to be the same website? Just because it shares a name does NOT mean its the same website. by ANY stretch of the imagination.

It’s like looking at two cups that are identical but different in colour, you may or may not prefer one over the other, or you might like them just the same, either way, they are different.
