Having trouble starting up

Got Freelancer and some help with installing it.

But now when I go to play, when I click the shortcut icon on the desktop it asks for me to insert the CD, and when I click the same icon in my folder or mounted ISO thing, it says it doesn’t have common.dll or whatever.

I have the mod to bypass the CD check thing, but it didn’t come with a guide to how to use it. Any help?

I did download that, yes. But I don’t know what to do with it or where to put it. Any help?

I really liked what I saw of the Itano Circus mod and want to give it a try.

OK. So this downloads the Freelancer.exe. You need to put this into the c:\program files\microsoft games\freelancer\exe folder (or wherever your installation is \exe folder) and overwrite the current Freelancer.exe
