Universal mod that edits perfoptions.ini?

Is there a syntax that you could use in a mod that would seek the players perfoptions.ini file and modify it?

All widescreen mods I see will do everything but that. The user must still manually seek out and edit their perfoptions.ini file.

I just wondered if there was a scripting option that would address that problem.

Actually, most newer widescreen mods replace 800x600 by the desktop resolution in the options screen within FL itself.

I played around with the options.ini for editing the in-game options menu options with some really suprising finds. Maybe it can be added too?.

Well, we have the JFLP as a requirement for installing our mod but my widescreen did not take place until I manually edited the perfoptions.ini, freelancer.ini, cameras.ini, fonts.ini, and rich_fonts.ini files.

FL did not automatically detect my screen resolution (1680x1050) and when I selected the option using the F1 Options screen the menus were not adjusted properly to the new size. Most were at least partially off-screen.
