Greetings, from a fellow modder that's new to Freelancer

There is a thread on animation here!
I’m totally clueless on the subject but I’m pretty sure the evil fish king ‘sushi’ knows how it works, done some fantastic models on the freeworlds mod anyway.
P.S - You should really check that mod out, it’s plastered all over the front page so you can’t miss it. It will give you an idea of what the future of freelancer might look like with DX9 if they choose to spoil us in the future.
If I have one little bit of advice for you right now, it would be to slow down and spend some time familiarising yourself with the files in freelancer. Just grab jflp from here! and you will have all the ini files that you can mod.
Look at the wiki for info, I get freaking lost in there when I try using it mind so beware! lol. Also, the old lancers archive here! has some great info.

Yeah, you’re right. I’m going too fast into things that I do not even comprehend well enough.
I’ll take a look at that archive over there, might even replace the .epub’s that I always read in the bathroom.

HOLY SHIT. What’s the radius on those .sph? (4/50000+?)
I can’t describe how I fell now that I saw that. I fell astonished.
Kudos for that stuff, it usually takes a lot to impress me.But…
Using this kind of very large solar objects won’t require a large system? Won’t this cause that annoying ‘shaking’ that everybody talks about? Also, from my digging in the files, I found out that planets use 3 texture maps, isn’t there any way to change this to a more friendly cube map? (right, center, left, bottom, top, rear)

I feel nerdy when I look at Star Wars stuff. Awesome stuff even I find those normals too strong.

Well, personal taste isn’t it
What I was trying to say earlier, was try and do something basic first. Don’t make the mistake of running out and grabbing a total conversion pack, ripping everything out of the game and getting lost in the depths of hell. It’ll ruin you!
Do what a sane person would do. Download a new ship or something and learn how to add it to the game, make a new gun and learn how to add that. Start simple, if you don’t like how it’s done then better to find out before you go making a major commitment.
Many people have big dreams for modding this game, but just like the guy before you, they bite off more than they can chew!
