Freelancer pointer/cursor
-
Hi
Can anyone help me? I want to change the colour of the pointer in Freelancer from its pale blue to a brighter colour, its fine when it turns red over an enemy when fighting or green over friendlies or
white when over neutrals but when I’m trying to click on the treasure chest to pick up cargo or sometimes in systems which are pale blue themselves it tends to disappear altogether for me.
If someone could tell me which files to edit it would be magic,If
one of you could help me please I would be eternally grateful.
Thankyou
Regards

X:/Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DATA\SCREENS. Open this with UTF-Editor. Extrakt the MIP0
as “anything.TGA”. That Pick is divided in 16x(64x64px) Parts.
Its done with Alpha-Channel. To macke the Cursor red, for example if you target enemy, you need to change the color in Quadrant “D2” (from top to bottom, from left to right) of the RGB channel. If you want make the Resolution biger, you need change the “mouse.ini” also. -
Hi
I follow what you are saying until you say "That Pick is divided in 16x(64x64px) Parts.
Its done with Alpha-Channel.
What is or where do I find Alpha-Channel please and then what to do? Sorry I’m new to this sort of editing.
Thanks again

If you want change the shape of the individual curser, you need
to edit the Alpha channel. -

Hi Thanks for the above image,I can see what you mean now,but
what program is that being used?. Is it UTF Editor?

No its Photosho which can be used to editing pictures.
GIMP can be used also to editing the pictures and its an
free software. The UTF-Editor can be used to import and export
the Textures from TXM-Files like CURSOR.TXM. After you export and edited the TGA-File from cursor.txm you need save it as TGA-File with alpha-channel again and import to the same
position from where you have export it. -
Here is a smal Video Tutorial, maybe helps you.
Consider that you may have to edit the mouse.ini also.
Here you find the FreelancerSDK there are all the
decrypted ini-Files.Have Fun
btw: GIMP shows the visible places in the Alpha in black color
and dont show the invisible.
