It must be said that HW2 modding is pretty much dead, even compared to FL. Modders are few and far between, newbies are nonexistent. Most of those who still mod moved on to newer games like SoaSE.

I for one like Homeworld more than SoaSE so I’m surprised to find out they have such poor support for mods.

It’s gonna be hard. Just as the other people said. The modding community is pretty much dead. All I can advise you is to read a lot and dig deep.

Homeworld 2 is LUA encoded, you can easily learn with some ship codes and make a synthesis with them, ships states are in .ship format and can be opened with notepad.

HW2 modding isn’t dead at all! Look at mod db, there is mod under dev and relased.
