My Esc and F1 Keys will not function

Hello everyone! I recently re-installed Freelancer after playing Freespace again only to find that my Esc and F1 keys will not work in the game so I cannot exit out of a game or save it either. Im playing it on my laptop if that has anything to do with it. Its getting tiresome not being able to hit escape and save my game when I need to stop playing.
When I try to re-assign the buttons they are greyed out and will not let me change the keys to something else. Can someone help me with this problem?

For temporary solution you may use adoxa’s console plugin which gives you an option to save the game trough MP chat interface. Prior doing so, patch the game with official 1.1 patch.Good luck!

I think some mods disable those keys too?

Try docking and then hit F1 to see what happens.

Ignore my comment above, I was thinking MP :roll: :roll:
F1 should work and bring up a smaller menu which doesn’t allow you to save the game in SP when you aren’t docked.
ESC should cancel some actions like cruise, universe map etc.
If you really mean they do nothing then you have a strange problem.
Do you have a non-US, non-UK keyboard, with the US version of FL maybe?
