Making nebulas transparent
-
Hi all,
I’m trying to make a nebula transparent. All i want is simple white fluffy clouds with no fog or anything else except some volcanic rocks floating randomly. I’ve tried using one of the standard ice nebulas from tau 37, and got as far as just getting the clouds only by commenting out the other entries in the nebula ini file but i can’t seem to make ithe nebula completely see through, it just ends up as black. Any suggestions where i’m going wrong?

Texture. lol make the texture used transparent (alpha or opacity your choice lol)

[Fog]
fog_enabled = 1Change it to 0?
@Cheese: he wants to remove the fog, not the clouds. ::)

MAYBE (<– pls note)
you can get that, with moving the nebula
behind everything you want to “shine through”
in the ini.On other stuff it was - TY 2 help of Lancer Solurus -
noted, that the order in which stuff stands in the INIs
might matter. -
Another suggestion: use rings. Just take an actual ring code and place it on a spheric/elliptic zone, then change the textures used. I think that should work if the above doesn’t.

Looks there is no way to remove fog?
I tried all above but finally i still got a black fog…… not transparented fog…
Is anyone tried this and success? i have a system need a cloud only nebula without any fog, and i don’t want to do it with ALE editing.
PS, something on this page is lagging my xoom, strange.

It’s correct. You can make a new cloud txm file ( you ought to, if you want transparent clouds in only one system), import the images and make the inner clouds fully transparent via photoshop.
