Graphics card issue

Ok, So I got this new Graphics card.

It’s a Nvidia Geforce GT 630.

It works beautifully with every game I play except Freelancer.

Minecraft = 120 FPS
Starmade = 250 FPS
Skyrim = 100 FPS
Freelancer = 1 FPS

This is really inconvenient since I am an Admin on one of the top Freelancer servers still around and I can’t even play the game due to the incredibly slow FPS. If anyone knows a fix for this, please let me know.

Just guessing here but could it be a Direct X issue perhaps your new card is running 11 and FL needs an earlier version.

Perhaps a new FL install could sort it out.

Good idea. I already thought of it and remembered that I was running DX 11 way before I got the graphics card. I run Freelancer in compatibility mode for an older OS so it works with Windows 8.

just a question who made your card ? I have two gtx 660ti sc from evga and they gave me a disk with directx 11 so check with the company that made your card. it should of came with a driver install disk where you can get direct x 11

No, bad. DirectX 10 and up are built into the OS from the get go and do not require installs of any sort. You just need the GPU’s driver, from NVIDIA or AMD, and that’s it. Not that it matters much since FL uses DirectX 8, which is built into the OS since XP.

I can only imagine that there might be a compatibility problem between the GT630 and FL, for some reason or another.

To clarify, it’s a PNY Nvidia GT 630 graphics card. It did come with the driver disc and has even been updated to the most recent driver since then. DirectX 11 was already on my PC before the card. I had a useless chat with tech support and got directed to a broken website with messed up links that wouldn’t even let me log in to submit a compatibility request. Why tech support couldn’t submit the request for me is lost to me.

Like I said before, the card is great. I’m glad I got it. I just wish I could play FL and get a techy that knows how to do his/her job.
