Ready to hop in a server!
-
Hey everyone! I’ve played a ton of Freelancer when I was younger and recently got back into the game but now I’m looking to try out a server or two and experience multiplayer.
-
You can see active servers here: http://www.flserver.de/topservers.htm but at the moment I’m typing this there are only 38 servers listed and 61 players online worldwide so don’t expect a robust community unless you’re on the disco server.

Hiyas, robocop. Is your server still running? I’ve been unable to run Freelancer on W7 but, I still have it installed on my XP. Need to put it back online.
-
Yep, it’s still up (since May of 2003).
Freelancer runs fine on Win7. Have you tried the installation methods listed here?
For best results, print out your multiplayer ID, back up your single player savegames, and uninstall FL.
Then delete any remaining folders relating to FL in your My Games folder and in the game directory.
Deactivate Windows User Account Control
Reboot your machine.
Reinstall FL. Do so by cancelling out of any autorun and navigating to the setup.exe file. Right click on the file and choose ‘Run as administrator’. Install the game.
Then install the Microsoft 1.1 update from this site.
If asked, reboot your machine.
Now when you try to enter MP the game will ask you to enter your MPID. Erase the one that is showing and type in the one you printed out. That should get your basic game installed and running. If it’s still not running after that then there are issues with your windows install or your anti-virus/security software is interfering.

OK, thanks. Will try it once I get some things worked out. I also have a list of ID’s saved….somewhere. lol Getting old, my mind is out of sync these days.
