Ways to connect to FL servers
-
Due to the global server going down, you cannot find any servers in the list of Freelancer. However, we have many creative people in this community that have come up with ways to connect.
Here are some of them.
This way to connect is the oldest version there is, for some it is easy for some it is not so easy.
So step by step:
Right click your freelancer shortcut on your desktop, go to properties, click it, you will come up with a window that looks like this:
In the place that I circled called the target box, you will put this line:
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe” -s213.208.119.228:2302
The ip you see that start with -s is the server I play on. Keep in mind, you have to know the server you are playing on, and you will usually find their server ip on their forums.
Make sure you click apply, and boom your on your favorite server.:)
If you choose to play on more then 1 server add a space after your first ip, then start your next ip with -s, every ip you have must start with -s. You can add multiple ips.
Keep in mind my FL is in my C drive, if you have your copy of FL on a different drive, you must add that letter inplace of C.

This is from w0dk4:
The global server workaround.
w0dk4 is a wonderful guy, he took his time and good effort and came up with a solution to the global being down. He shares this with all of us.
You will find this here:

I do believe the last time I downloaded this the file is self extracting, follow the prompts and you will have a list of servers in your global list when you fire up the game of Freelancer.

Crazys version of DNS:

It is self explanatory for both server operators and people who want to join a server. Follow the directions:)
-
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe” -s213.208.119.228:2302
The " are afaik only required if there is space in the game directory.
For example Microsoft Games, Program Files
You can also connect via the program Xfire, but you have to click at a server at the server list or via “Join Game” button.
But I have to mention that xfire sometimes has problems with the game if you change modifications (or maybe even with activating and deactivating mods)
But if you have problems with this you can simply deactivate ingamechat for freelancer, this will solve the problem with crashsXfire does the same then torchs way, it starts the game with this parameter ( -sIP)
Another method is the weblauncher by Louva Deus
next one:
use FLSDCT -

If i’m correct, Crabtree developed A handy little “Dedicated servertool” and it works perfect.
you can put several IP’s+names in it for several servers.
