DS is old and outdated
Hellfire left FL some time ago and there were no updates since…. dunno … about 4 yearsAnd what is the alternative?
For me it belongs in the category “Old, but good stuff”
(Remember…How many years it is ago that FLMM got updated?)
-
Of course ;D
I personally use the program mostly to check some things, like jump holes etc. because I cant remember everything from my head :X …;)

Luckily enough, it’s not too buggy (it sometimes has problems with virtual memory that is too big or something like that)… and works… and yeah, the only other alternative that I know of would be freelancer explorer, which is made primarily for modding though.

FL Companion is also good and gives trade routes that are easy to read.
FLDS scrambles the font sizes on my machines, making it difficult to read.
BOTH are spoilers.
Go play the game, newb!

The player can decide by himself if he want to use it - or not!
And I even - If I had scanned a mod - visit the system because some have very nice graphics, I mainly use FLDS to check things which I knew but I forgot through time

Dont need this “tool” rearing its ugly head again. Â
Makes mod making with surprises and easter eggs a waste of time and is a fully functional “walkthrough for players”
Meh, FLDS stopped working for me ages ago, and I find it too messy anyways… My walkthrough is the files
It’s a good tool, nice if you wanna use it. I used to use it loads

I think that everybody has to decide for him or herself whether they want to use tools like FLDS or not.
In some mods, especially those that are not complete yet, you can fly around aimlessly through undocumented systems in the hope to find rewards for your will to explore… just to find… nothing. If the game crashes 3x in the meantime and you have to restart 2 systems away then you might get frustrated and never touch the mod again. There FLDS is a blessing; you can see where there is something to see.
In other mods you miss some nice things because you take the direct route. Well, you spoiled it for yourself, tough luck. -
In theory, you aren’t wandering aimlessly in an incomplete mod; you beta test it… Otherwise you aren’t proving very useful for the mod makers.
