Speaking of ships I’ll flagrantly advertise one.
Only 1 previous owner and only 9000 light years on her!
If you’re interested call me at Jeff’s Used Starships
Tripoli Shipyards on Corsair channel 666!EDIT: Ship in Jefferson’s Supership mod now in downloads!
Remember that Jeff here sticks guns and turrets everywhere! Cut them down to taste in the scripting!
Also I test in sandbox so you might want to get rid of Uber shields and infinite power, so on. That’s why I script so modders can trim to tastes in the loadout! -
How about something for those who like things with utility? Here’s just the starship for you!
Everything on the lot’s for sale except my pet Nomad “Spot”!
That’s Jeff’s Used Starships! Best Deals in Omicron Minor!
EDIT: Ship in Jefferson’s Supership mod now in downloads!

Yada, yada, yada… Go have fun. -
How about a compact? Here’s a tiny ship with enough punch to dance with those darts around the Texas jumpgate
-
Got a nice ride for those who like a bit of storage space in their fighter. Great where 2 guns and 4 turrets will get you there in one piece. (More or less)
Remember that Jeff’s gives away a free pair of fuzzy dice and a ripper mine free with every test flight!
-
Tonight’s last offering before we return to the midnight movie “My Mother Was A Cousair” is a hot number! Both stylish and deadly this Comet will really leave a trail behind it! (Just be nice and leave the scrap metal for the Junkers, okay?)

JEFFERSON001 SAYS LEARN TO SCRIPT XML.
VERY HANDY SKILL! -
I script out my ships for input into OpenSP games to test them out and get the right size and movement stats, camera settings and such. Then run some through the story line to see if the textures hold up in some of the close passes there in the cut scenes. I do the detail work inside the cockpit and before I send them out they will have all the custom cockpits, Sur files and ship icons. Those last 3 I’m working on. Though the scripts, CMPs and MATs are tight.

Now for something completely different!
Something found gathering dust in the Rhineland Museum in New Berlin I won holding four kings to their full house and I upgraded it a bit:
-
can you upload it ? O.O
-
awesome

Edit: Uber scene there is several million polygons. So no. No post.
But, wouldn’t I love to! It’s a standard industry test render and the smallest dimension has to be 1500 pixels so in widescreen (14:5 ratio) that’s 2333.333 x 1500 pixels and test renders are ALWAYS in a lossless format and I did it in .tif so the uncompressed file is exactly 3.036 mb.
Zipped to the max the model is 326.25 mb if converted to .obj. - mtl. Entire scene is just short of a gigabyte. -
So here’s what I CAN do. This is full sized render converted to .jpg and the title block added.
Enjoy

As for the model it’s over 45k polygons and was done using the actual plans of the Foker. The skin was done in a cloth simulation set to canvas and the actual skeleton of the plane was the collision matrix so what you see is how the actual airplane’s form looks. It has every wire where it should be and the only screw up is that the grain in the wooden struts goes 90 degrees so I’m fixing that.
EDIT! Just got a “Decimation” plugin for my Cinema 4D that I’ll run it though and submit to downloads if I get something small enough in .obj format. Have to learn it’s bell & whistles first.

“Asteroid” nice!
-
Damn right! Built that little puppy to tangle with all those Outcast darts in the New York system. Used to ram me so often I thought I was flying though an asteroid field. Hence the name. It’s scripted with the darts maneuver stats. Plan on selling it on Manhatten as a good ship to buy after the starflyer you get from Juni in the story line.

A real one-off! For those who really want to make an impression! Come on down to friendly Omicron Minor and make me an offer.(And if you find a couple of gold colored ball bearings give them to the monkey)
Edit: Hope ya know that’s a joke Mr. Hell.

Say I’m cleaning out my closet and running into interesting things I can had out to the Freelancer community. Most were from studio projects that never got off the ground like the big honker. When I say "studio grade that means the virtual camera can pull in just as tight as you please and the model will stand up. It’s set for textures in post-production by an art department, so I added stock shades of gray and blues for the fx panels self illumination panels. Usually these models are simply trashed after rejection. I don’t remember which shop this came out of or for what project it was meant for. The dates on the original file put it at 2002. Which figured because “Space Operas” were popping up and getting shot down with regularity back then.
Edit: So I’m submitting somebody elses work here, more like a bunch of people’s work. This model probably took a crew of modelers a to rap out in a weeks deadline. See what you can do with it considering the polygon counts involved. (Note this model in cut down form was passed around in the 3D trade mags, but this is the fully detailed model)
Here is the jpgs of it. Zip of .obj is 25mb and will submit for the download page when my internet is repaired (next month) and I’m off this flakey 4G.
OKAY FOLKS HERE’S THE. Dreadnaught is now in the Downloads section. For now look under new submissions. (Thanks guys for. Okaying the submission)

Here’s one from before Freelancer that can easy be made to fit the genre. 1999 and back then first developed on a Cray computer. I later cleaned it up (2002-3) when my desktop started to outmatch the Cray that was then called a “Supercomputer”. You’re desktop at home would laugh at it. Though since about 1000 manhours went into this design, I’ll say I only modeled it. Build it, drop it from the ionosphere and you might just land it. Just don’t ask Jefferson to co-pilot.
-
Here’s a model from an “open call for submissions” which is a casting call for art\design on movies\TV. They send an outline of what they want and it’s bare bones: Alien spaceship with X fx panels (Illum) and that’s it. Hence OC306 is Open call March 2006.
-
Going back and looking, when I render these it’s how submissions are sent out. They say what the want, but it’ s usually textured 180 gray and unlit with nothing but an High Dynamic Range Image
(HDRI) they send to set up a light sphere. Most all my ship illustrations on this page are set up and rendered that way because of the detail it shows. I’m planning on submitting 2, one for sheres and a “cross” for cubes to the downloads page in the future, but two small ones are 15mb zipped.Render image size, view angles, etc are specified, but usually 1 oblique, front, back, top and bottom and min of 1500 x 1500 pixels. And sometimes (rarely) they ask for the model (sign supplied release form please).
I’m vamping while the renderer kicks out the views for the next models.
Edit: I queue them up and hit return.
