A lot of tactical advantage can be had by learning how to turn off your engine and use the afterburner to change direction.

Head off in a straight line and kill your engine, then turn your ship around, watch what happens.

When you flee from NPCs they never seem to be left behind until you succeed in starting your cruise engine, in the meantime they can kill you.

Try it and kill your engine, turn round… and blast them while moving backwards. Even if you don’t kill one or two, they drop behind faster.

And you’re in a good position to afterburn right back at them and break through, while they turn round to get you you can engage that cruise engine.

And in dogfights as you turn and tap afterburn your ship jolts off the way it’s facing, disaiming many combat pilots.

Last tip…

While in cruise, kill your engine. Learn when and how you can do it when in cruise, and you can achieve close to cruise speed in a free coast, with all guns blazing…!
