Help with textures….
-
Hi, I have a problem…. Im trying to make a new model for freelancer. It was exported into Lightwave, editted, then exported to milkshape, and when I try to make the textures show up, THIS happens…
No idea why, can anyone with modelling/texturing experience help me out here? I want to use original FL textures for this model, but when I load them, they come out like that.

Have you made sure you have all the relevant options selected when importing/exporting for the textures? or have the textures mapped via a UVMap or similar. im not a lightwave user as i am a max user lol but iirc there was options or something to do with textures when exporting from max to Lightwave files.

What’s happening is that the UV maps are getting lost in the translation. If you look at the UV coordinates that milkshape is displaying you will see every face compressed down into a single point in the top left of the UV map. This causes everything to appear a solid color depending on the texture map. Rheinland ships appear to be a solid green because the single point is over a green area, whereas Liberty ships appear to be a solid gray because the single point is over gray.

Why485, that is EXACTLY what is happening…… i recently got 3ds max 9 and it says that the UVW information is missing from the Lightwave files…
Now i have a NEW problem >.<
_To fix this, i have to know how to:-Fix the UVW of the lightwave-editted models (in lightwave preferably, or in milkshape, or in 3ds max…… any one, really)
or
-Figure out how to export 3ds max 9 models into milkshape. (this entails rebuilding all the models, which isnt THAT big a problem, I would be willing to do this if it would work out in the end)What do other modders use to make freelancer models? what programs and plugins?
I cant use gmax for some reason (stupid vista), but I CAN use milkshape, and 3ds max so far, havent tried any others._
