Do you perhaps want “set” randomness? I haven’t looked at FL or .ales in a LONG time now so I don’t remember how the color part of the ale looks but I know I made missile trails that would constantly change colors. Not totally random though, just I added more lines of varied colors and had really small time increments of like 0.00000500 and so on.

I think it would look like this sort of

1.00000000, 1.00000000, 0.50000000, 0.00005000
0.80000000, 0.50000000, 1.00000000, 0.00010000

and so on. r,g,b,time
r,g,b,time
etc.

I had alot of lines. But sorry, its not really “random”. You all probably know this anyways.

As is understand it the FL engine is not able to generate shadows itself like other engines.
They need to be done by hand which is not possible in space.

Well, you COULD just add like 20 seconds to the end of the sound so it lasts longer than the munition’s lifetime and make all that muted. That way it wouldn’t loop since it wouldn’t have the time to do so and you wouldn’t hear anything.

And that behavior is probably the single thing I hate the most about FL 😠

I have to say I was a bit surprised that ShapeDB errors would cause a crash; I have like 50 of them in my WIP version and never had a crash because of them.

Honestly, if you’re crashing in the middle of space for no reason, check encounters and patrol paths. If you’re crashing at specific points, check what you’re doing at that time and what is related to that action.

there are various material types which support lightmaps
you have to change the alpha channel of the texture in order to get it to work

the emmisive/glowmaps definitly glow even when its bright… you can test this by using different colored textures

i have heard of a way to do this with flhook.

if i remember correctly it works by flhook seeing two items (in this case the enhancer and the weapon) and then a command being typed and it deletes them both and replaced it with a new weapon with the right upgrade. i suppose it would be like /enhance<enhancer><weapon></weapon></enhancer>

First the general (global) options for this lens-flare effect:
nickname = nickname
shape = texture to use for lens-flare-particles
min_radius = if you look into the sun below this value, lens-flare disappears (fade, in degrees)
max_radius = almost the same as above, set to (about) 90 (degrees) and lens-flare disappears when sun is outside screen

The following entry is a lens-flare-particle, you can add more of this:
bead = 0.100000, 0.900000, 0.900000, 0.100000, 0.100000, 0.800000
The big load of numbers mean the following:
bead = distance from center (0->1), size (experiment with this, 0<), red (0->1), green (0->1), blue (0->1), alpha (0->1)

To make the transparency work properly you need to add an alpha channel to your texture. FL is a little weird about that, if you don’t have an alpha channel sometimes the Ot will work and sometimes it won’t, usually it won’t.

As you wrote in the last row: “usually won’t”. I spotted some texures with existing Oc, but these are crows and galaxies based on black transparent layer. Could i import vanilla textures (walker/cloud mainly) into photoshop and make them transparent somehow (by default the transparent box is gray when i import into photoshop so i cant set it) or i have to make a new in photoshop then export into tga?
I tried many methods without success so far i’m new in this part of modding so please help me in this.
