just to give a little more depth to it, over at freeworlds i have been working hard. just today i managed to put a nice litle animation together to emulate the start of the jump to light speed (before the wormhole effect) i also plan on making the replacement wormhole effect, but the question is if it is possible to reference another cmp than what is in freelancer. also what does the model have to be set up like before trying to export it? does it need to be a bunch of polygons? or can i just use the splines i have?
finally, can the visibility for the preliminary animation be messed with to only appear in a 3 second or 5 second window and then disappear (linked of course to the jumpgates which are invisible) and can visibility be set up so its very short range (only from the view of the pilot activating the jump)? and if all else fails can the animation be played like a movie in front of the pilot instead of an outright model animation (prior to the wormhole)? i know the wormhole effect has to be a model animation, but this other one is possibly going to be a bugger, since the effect relys heavily on the camera perspective.
i may post a link here later of the video i rendered to give a better idea of what i mean.
