Welcome back. Though not playing for so long the whole ballgame has changed. Get ready to have the newer mods install into their own directories and having several to many builds and startup icons to contend with instead of FLMM. (The mod manager in case you forgot, but other than going retro you can pretty much scratch FLMM anyway) Pretty soon they’re going to have to put out a Freelancer Icon Manager so you can keep track of all the builds! Though you’ll find that the mods have strive to stay on top of the newer technologies take Freelancer to places you can’t imagine. And a goodly portion of those doing it are on this site. Bon Voyage!
I’m surprised that I never posted this here on Starport. In March I made a Freelancer “flight simulator” with the goal of getting a flight model as close as possible to Freelancer, even using my own set of modified physics that run on the same formula as Freelancer.
You can actually plug in values from a Freelancer ship and it’ll fly almost exactly the same as it would in the real game. The differences come in how mouse flight is handled, but you can eliminate those differences by flying in cockpit view. Either way, it’s still extremely close, to the point where the only way you’d notice the differences is putting video of the two side by side.
I think the question of the subject has been answered, at least to my satisfaction. This is evidently not a job for 2 or 3 people and I simply consider it a shame it was not done at a point when the community had the man power and the will power to pull it off.
That is by no means a fault of the community, as clearly it was massively involved in a variety of other mod related projects. The community made a decision on what it wanted to do, and did it.
Wow, people are still playing this great game. I haven’t played Freelancer in about 5 or 6 years but I’m back. BTW I need to find a mod to add captions/subtitles for the dialog in the game. Being deaf makes it a little difficult to understand the dialog without the captions. :lol:

I still have XFire installed and still open it to keep it updated, like any other app I have but, I hardly ever use it anymore or, visit. It’s all changed and I really don’t like the way it is now. Besides, I only used it for Freelancer and many of the servers that were listed on it, are gone now.
