Ive known Angelfire through the Discovery mod for a long time now. And this is the very same guy that got pictures of Super Models from a shoot he was doing. Holding signs saying i love Discovery. And i love the Reapors of Sirius a clan im part of amongs other goodies.
If theres somone that can get this done. Its Angelfire.

I must agree with what OP said on a previous part of this Thread – If Joss Wedon couldn’t get Fox to produce a full season of Firefly or to even show it in correct order for that matter – and we all know who he is and Fox is the most liberal network out there Then you have to have doubt’s – cause there aint that far a drift from firefly to freelancer – and you know that MS is going to want a fat piece of the profit side and will not pony up a dime – on top of that SciFi channel is going the reality show way due to how cheap it is

well i also didnt fell very good when i saw topic about making a possible TV serie to get pinned/closed down, just because one or 2 members of TSP couldnt imagine that it could be possible, I might be too big optimist but at least i am not pesimist, Ideas and dreams are leading force of progress and if all ppl would think like OPR8R, we would come nowhere and humanity would still play with stones around, No prject is never guaranteed to live its end but we all take chances to try and learn something new and learn on mistakes, if we fail on certain point somebody else will be able to continue from point where we failed and continue.

I am admin of one of the most active FL communities
I am the creator of one of the best FL mods out there
I am head of the currently biggest FL modding team with more active projects than others would be able to handle
SO my “pessimistic” way of thinking (others would say realistic way of thinking) actually has brought me to a point that most others still have to reach.
And if I want to get a pic of hot models having the words “SWAT Portal bunny crew” Â painted on their nakes bodies then Im damn sure I can get this done too (I know who would do me such a favour).Realistic judgement is judgement based on the facts… and those speak against that project.
Realistic judgements also involve a judgement based on experience. Well I have 9 years of experience in the Lancer community (which is certainly more than you all have; and i dont speak about a onesided view based on just one FL community site… I am active in almost every big FL community)… and not a single similar project ever was a success (and there already were movie projects based on Lancer).In the end it will look like always… one person has an idea and 20 others get excited about it… a few weeks pass by… no development is done… people loose interest…
A new incredible idea gets born… again 20 people get excited… and the entire game starts again…
In the end we have thousands of ideas… millions of hopes… and 0 resultsI easily can name 10 cases where exactly that did happen.
You can call me pessimistic… but my REALISTIC way of acting has worked very good and has brought me to where I am now (not only here in FL).EDIT: Sorry FF… we wrote at the same time

If you want to support this idea then create that teaser for that guy. But dont tell me that I am pessimistic or that i dont support the lancer community. I have been supporting the lancer community for 9 years now and kept the Starlancer online community running when everyone else refused to support it. TLR would have been shut down in the end of 2006 already if I wouldnt have supported it and in the past 2 months I have done nothing else than supporting projects in the entire Freelancer community.
All that does not happen if i would be pessimistic or not supportive.But i will not support a project that MIGHT get realized in a few YEARS while there are other projects which can and will lead to good results NOW (projects that are being kept ignored because of that incredible new and shiny movie project - its like giving new toys to a kid and the old toys end up in a corner)

The FL community is large, if someone not involved in other projects wants to make a teaser video. Let them and give your support, instead of pissing all over the idea, especially if you don’t know their capabilities or work ethic. If it fails, you lose nothing. If anything, there might be one or two vids that might come to fruition. We might gain a few members if they were able to even get 1 video clip on youtube.

paid. We do it for the love of the game, and for the benefit of our players and community members. Most of us just get on
with it. We are small fish, in an even smaller pond … One that seems to be drying out now, especially with that sort of

Angelfire is a DiscoveryGC member, we sort of sent him over here to track down some people, and he gets met with this ?
I doubt he will be back, or even worse, won’t be promoting this place at any time in the near future either. Not a great first
impression for anyone is it ?
The guy is a business man, he has contacts and backers, if he says he is going for it, he will do his utmost, and we will
certainly back him, if there is a tiny chance for Freelancer to get a big shot in the arm. Though honestly it wont make a blind
bit of difference either way if it doesn’t happen. Bit like the rest of the projects … We’ll just continually improve on what we
have at the moment, and hope the loyal ladies and gents keep supporting those efforts.
So OPR8R, could you get of your high horse and join us mere mortals down here on the ground please. In the greater

other then calling me pessimistic and doing stupid jokes you have not showed a single arguement which shows that this idea can work and not a single of my arguements have been prooven wrongupto now you have nothing but any idea… nobody creating the teaser, no contacts with microsoft, no idea about the timeframe needed to create a tv series, you totally ignore the current player base of FL, the decreasing numbers of players and the demoralizing effect on the playerbase if this project fails, not to mention that this project suddenly becomes highest priority while other projects which could increase the numbers of players (in a short period time) become low priority or totally get canceled.
But like I already mentioned… you will never listen… and I am sick that the FL community is wasting real chances with unlikely dreams
and i am also sick of people which have to claim how incredible their community with every single post and which have done nothing yet of the FL community other than supporting their own server/community site.but you wont need to worry… this was my final post here - im gone

Humpf, seems all missed what OP is trying to say (at least thats my impression).
OP-R8R only stated that he is not convinced of this project. Well he must not support it (its his choice). And as far as i can remember he didn’t state that Angelfire is not allowed to start with this project. He only voiced his minds based on his experience.And i fail to see why Angelfire refused to stay here - only because OP stated his minds and is not convinced to get a Freelancer series started. (btw i am also not convinced about it

But please do not expect that everyone will do so.OP has his own reasons, and in my eyes this has nothing to do with being pessimistic - its just a possible way this project will follow. It must not come this way - but it could. Thats what OP was saying… As we all cannot look that far into the future - no one will know it by detail. If this project turns out to have much success - the better it is. But if not, then maybe OPs word become true and I think some of the involved backers are disappointed. Thats maybe also a scenario that may happen. And i think its not wrong to show also the other side of the medal of a probably course of such a project. Thats kinda checking the feasibility

Well it’s my turn to annoy people now. Firstly, this is my personal opinion on this and i really don’t care what people think about what i’m going to say as free speech is a wonderful thing.
My background is over 20 years in the music industry. I know, believe me, how long it takes, the planning, the execution and so on to get big projects off the ground. It’s no cakewalk. I worked on LiveAid so i know what it takes. Not knowing Angelfire’s background, i can’t comment on how and if he has the backing to get this project going as in the long run, we’re talking millions of dollars. Enthusiasm is one thing, doing it is another. I support the idea in itself, the content of it however, i do not.
Freelancer was always about doing your own thing, the ability to go anywhere and do anything within the confines of the game. Anyone argues that point and i’ll slap them.
The concept proposed by Angelfire as i understand it, is stories concerning clan goings on from the Disco RP server. I’m bored already. How in god’s name is that anything to do with Freelancer? That is no different from clan wars stories and goings on from EVE or WOW. It doesn’t help the Freelancer cause in my eyes as it’s nothing to do with what Freelancer is all about, the essense of the game.
I can just see it now, episode one, today we engaged the whatever clan. Episode two, today we engaged the whatever2 clan and so on, is that really what this series is going to be about? Time to get real here i think. If you try that pitch to M$ they will simply show you the door, assuming you even get that far.
As has already been mentioned, this whole project will take years to put together and i really wish it well as good ideas should always be supported. I just think a major rethink of the content that you’re proposing to put in needs a serious rethink as a bunch of clan stories for a tv show just aint gonna cut it.
As to the nay sayers of this project, i can see both perspectives very clearly here but in the cold light of day, partly due to financial considerations, partly due to the proposed content, and definately due to experience, i really can’t see this happening.
Finally, what’s up with Angelfire just wandering off? Can’t he take a bit of criticism, positive or negative? If he ignores peoples opinions now and get’s frustrated that people don’t support this idea then think how he’s going to feel if the project is vetoed by M$.

Hard as it may be, I tend to agree with what OPR8R is saying. Unless Angelfire is secretly a top network executive with bazillions of dollars and stuff, I just can’t realistically see this happening. Perhaps a neat little home movies or indy film type thing could be done, but thats even stretching it. I already said it myself, the CGI work required alone would take months and months to get anywhere near the quality you see on TV. That 30 seconds of footage of the Colony ship? That took roughly 72 hours to make. For just 30 seconds!
And lets not get started on the Freelancer Still Alive thing. I wouldn’t quite call it a mistake, but I didn’t realize how much time that would take when I started it. Not to mention real life significantly cut down my free time to work on the project. In the end I was forced to abandon it. Nobody wants to say it, but OP is just being realistic here. Unless the FL equivalent of Jesus comes down and rains down source code and a console sized fanbase… well…

Most of you sit in the background criticizing projects based on games that finally do make it to the bigs screen.
