No cruise ship again
-
My quick fix is to edit constants.ini and change
CRUISING_SPEED = 120
or whatever speed you want. ;D
-
Just make an engine with a charge up time of 999999999 or something like that, and it takes so long for cruise to take effect, it wont work :).

Thanks, but I want some ship can’t use cruise, not all of ships. ;D
I know I can change “cruise_charge_time” or “cruise_power_usage” to make the cruise won’t start, but I’m not sure if I do that, whether it will cause side effects?

hit how about trying it?

As the poster of the original question on the thread mentioned in the OP, changing the values mentioned there do work.
High cruise charge time was the one I went for with no ill effect. Apart from being told cruise is charging.
I also found that by altering the number of thrusters and manipulating the ship mass you could fine tune the in game speed.
This might be the way to easily give different cruise speeds for different ships. Ditch the cruise engine but manipulate thruster power and mass. I suppose you would then have to keep thruster button pressed though

Thanks Tunicle, now I can edit the cruise charge time to make some ships can’t use cruise.
About the different cruise speeds for different ships, I think maybe has some other way to make it too. ;D
Ps. Yes, I know there has M0tah’s MultiCruise dlls, but M0tah tell me its client-side, so player can be edit it and do some bad thing.

Where is the fun in that?
Try “Adventures in Docking”
with a simple CONSTANTS.INI edit of
CRUISING_SPEED = -240
;DBut seriously, Dark_Angel has the working idea and you can set it per engine.

He pretty much hit the nail on the head here. I used this technique on my not-very-mobile Storage Depots for players, and it works like a charm.
Add a NPC wingman hostile with a CD next to it ??? ;D
I’ve had this happen with wingmen turning hostile before; it’s rather amusing, especially since you’re technically their formation leader and they will thus follow you across an entire system pumping CDs into you. =P
