FL Server Manager Advice
-
I didnt try it yet, but what about the Discovery Server manager from Cannon?
-
1. We use CDlite to:
- restart the server, both daily and if FLServer crashes.
- in game banner messages
- tracking IP addresses
2. We use flhook-plugin version:
- to control “player x killed by player y” messages
- we use the givecash plugin (which includes a /drawcash command) for ingame banking; it’s a ilttle crude but it works okay for us. I believe CDlite also has in game banking but I don’t know how that works.
- several servers use the restart plugin for player restart templates (although we don’t on the discoverygc server)
3. We use DAM for server & account management:
- We use this to monitor server performance and manage player accounts.
If you’re looking for the easy way, I’d recommend FLAC. It does pretty much all of the above in one easy to use package. I don’t actually use FLAC but I have tried the demo and liked it - a minor downside is that you have to pay a little bit for it - on the upside Eagle fixes stuff rather quickly and it is easy to setup.
If you don’t choose FLAC, then there are several flhook versions around, I’d recommend either Motah’s FLAK88 one or Wodka’s flhook-plugin one.
Here’s the link to the flhook plugin version: http://forge.the-starport.net/gf/project/flhook/
There are now 14 plugins publically available for the flhook-plugin version: http://forge.the-starport.net/gf/project/flhook
/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_package_id=2Note that both DAM and CDlite work best when connected to flhook.
I’m working on a new version of dam and some more plugins and hopefully release all of this soon. I intend to add server restart functions into DAM and move the in game banner messages into a plugin.
