More sharing? MOAARRR SHARING?

Many nice ressources already get shared, but I would like to ask abuot further sharing.
For instance (those are just EXAMPLES, so pls don’t use them as a discussion :P), the charmanager & pvp list from HC, the signature generation script from SW WT (as well as the clan management system once it is finished? >_>), DFLS Char interface & many more…
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to create the uber server or so, but I am in the opinion that the more software get shared, the better it will be for the community as a whole (since everyone can use it, it would improve the server in general), plus - If everybody does share, don’t forget that you also get an improvement by other devs.
This doesn’t mean that you aren’t willing to share, but you maybe simple didn’t thought about. So this is more some kind of a heads-up.

Im pretty sure if someone wants to share something they will… the stuff they dont wanna share wouldnt be out of spite… they simply have reasons for not doing so…

tbh I see no point in us charing the charmanager for example, because the code behind it is heavily chaotic. To change sth. or even only port it over to your website, you’d have to study the code in-depth only to realize it may be easier to rewrite it yourself.
Programming a char manager isnt that hard, and for people with no or minimal php skills, they would have nearly no use for it since they’d have to dig into the code to correct/adapt things.

There’s also the fact that sometimes exclusivity can be nice, even if only for a while…
Don’t get me wrong, I love sharing and all, but every once in a while it feels good to be able to benefit from your own hard work without anyone else being able to claim the same.

The signature can be generate by PHP/MySQL, also a clan system. If you have data, php/mysql can do anything for you. ;D

Well i think that most peoples are sharing their stuff, for example Wodka shared all his special features like cloaking or docking.
This is only an example, most community’s share their best features.
We at NU would also share our hook features but those features that we’ve keep are alrdy avaible to the community or they are security relevant.What I mean is that i dont feel that we need more sharing, for my feelings it’s good as it is rightnow.
And if someone rly wants the HHC or DFLS webinterface I’m sure wodka and crazy would provide them with importend infos.Just my 2 cents… ;D
