New Guy with a Question

It’s because Microsoft has removed its online server hosting for Freelancer. That being said, we have fixed that and all the information you need for setting up Freelancer for Multiplayer can be found here: http://the-starport.net/freelancer/wiki/index.php/Main_Page#Getting_Started_3

Welcome to the community m8, nice to see newcomers after all this time. Like Sushi said, MS shut down the global server and now you need a workaround or an edited shortcut to connect.
That being said, you only have access to a limited number of servers if you use Vanilla (original) Freelancer. All the best servers out there use their own “mods”.
You can check out some of the best ones here:
http://www.moddb.com/games/freelancerpersonally, I recommend the Tekagi’s Treasure 5.48 mod. You can;t see it on that list, but you can check it out here: http://www.tekagis.com/
Good luck!

I fear this won’t help him with his problem. Download FLMM (Freelancer Mod Manager) -> http://home.comcast.net/~igx89/FLMM_Downloads.html
I would recommend the 1.31 version, it is more bugfree.
Then download the GLS Workaround from www.flserver.de
double-click at the zip.flmod -File in the archive, then it will be automatically opened with FLMM. Activate the Workaround there.
If self-extracting from the zip-Archive by double-clicking doesn’t work, you can unzip the content of the flmod-file to the Freelancer Mod Manager/mods directory. (It can be opened as any other archive) -
Bas, if you read the Wiki properly, you’ll see it covers everything, including the GLS workaround you just posted.

sry, didn’t see them. Just had a quick look around and as far as I remember (<- !) it wasn’t always there. So I just mentioned it…
