3D System Editor (part of Freelancer Mod Studio)
-
Now the only thing missing would be the actual models instead of placeholder boxes
Yeah … but sorry guys, thats not feasable especially because of performance reasons
Looms awesomely cool, what does it do other than create systems?
3D universe editing ! - you know the map where each system is located ^^
Aaaand you can also edit every .ini file there is in a visual environment but without a 3d display ofcourse
But there is a lot more planned especially the idea to manage the development process of a whole modSee official thread of Freelancer Mod Studio for a complete list
EDIT: About the models … maybe I will create very simplified models of the original so that you can identify the actual type easier.

What about some kind of ‘modular station placement’ mode like FLE has?
-
@Stfx, it renders a station, and any lego pieces attached to the station and allows you to move it around to connect pieces easier.
We will see about that.
Well currently I have some problems with the correct display of pathes. Does anybody have good knowledge about the 3d transforms of zones?
the problem only occurs at zones with a cylindrical shape. the rotation seems to be wrong but it works for everything else …
any ideas?

AH yes, that would be awesome. I can’t wait to get my hands on this thing.Great. We developers are really working hard, for free, to deliver you a tool which we sometimes dont even need ourselves, at least in my case. So its good to hear that people use it or would use it and like it. Thanks

FLE generates a wireframe view in x/y, y/z and x/z direction (like any modeling program) where you can move the parts, it makes modular station creating very easy - too bad it doesn’t work on Vista…

It works in Vista. The way I fixed it was go from 32 bit to 12 bit (or something lower than the 32) and change the screen to 1280 x 800
Worked fine for me then.

He means the wireframe editor u can use when u right click on a station with parts attached via “parent = station_name”.
On the attached picture u can see a selected modul called big_arm_05 which connects the dock to the main station.

i can’t wait to get my hands on this good luck to you in the creation of what will be an awesome tool, but just to satisfy my curiosity how long do you reckon it’ll be before the first public beta? Anyway can’t wait for thisOzed.
Depends how stable you want it to be

I wrote a zone rotation calculator for the mining plugin. It supported ellipsoids (and sphere) but not cylinders. It’s in a file called ZoneUtilities.C. You can find the plugin source in the flhook plugins project on the forge.
Unfortunately I got the algorithm wrong - close but wrong and I ran out of time to find the mistake. The mistake was either direction of rotation (Left to Right or Right to Left) or order of rotation (X-Axis then Y then Z or some other order). I never did figure it out but the code might serve as a starting point for you.

Yeah I have the same problem here. It is working for every zone type except cylinders. They are also looking right but the rotation is just wrong. It would be interesting to know how freelancer handles them
