Ioncross Engine Screw up?
-
So, I just installed the Ioncross character editor. I started by just changing the location that I started at in a save. After testing it out, I discovered a very peculiar thing. My max speed when not in cruise mode is 119 instead of 79, and the engines on my ship don’t seem to react.
I fly around but they don’t animate right. They stay the same the whole time. E.G. they don’t do the “gathering power” thing when charging cruise mode, and don’t flare up bright when in cruise, they just kind of slowly let out energy, however, the speed changes the right way. It’s just that the engines just sit there not changing colors or size or anything. My other saves all work right, it’s just the one I edited, but I can’t seem to understand why it would do that to my save when I only changed what planet I load the save on.

Unless you can reproduce it by altering another saved game it will not be findable.
But even then, the author is not going to fix it, so there is no fix.
Having said that, I have never had any problem using it.

if i do want to edit multiplayer savegames, i use notepad++.
other than the simple text editor, if you save the file with this one, the changes are not going to be reset on execution of flserver.exe, as n++ does not store a change log in the registry (speculational explanation). however, you’d need the crc tool to handle it properly but its worth it, never yet experienced any problems, if all done right. -
Hmmm. Gisteron old pal you’re doing it again…
This chap is a beginner. You are describing advanced methods.
OK, But:- you are not giving step-by-step reliable instructions.
Give him a chance to get familiar with straightforward methods first.

xD, sorry, dude
well, yes, just do backups before doing anything and ioncross or biocross are the best thingys to start with. however, recommended would be to get familar with nicknames of equipment and ships. go through inis, tutorials and stuff, you’ll get it soon enough, that’s what all we started with.
