Other game Servers to Host

OK TTD is obvious (I think!)
Tell me about UFO2000 - as a turn-based game, is it really interesting to players? For me turn-based games some time ago meant planning my next moves, clicking to execute them, watching my buildings/squads being blown to bits by the other players (what luck!), and then trying to guess their next moves and planning my next one - for me that is boring after 30 minutes or so. Has it changed that much?

JKA <- some realy nice things like the OJP “open jedi project”… a server run by someone i trust would be awesome
Neverwinter… 1 or 2
Sauerbraten… could be fun… amongst modders
& finaly… Diablo II running “MedianXL” best D2 mod ever!!
All of the above encourage teamplay in one way or another & some semblance of community and have minimal overhead on most modern servers (& run on 2003)
Any feedback on these?
Sauerbraten:- can you fight other players or fight in teams?
All sound good, I’m willing to try one or more.

0o StarTrader!
You did not ever played

I not believe you.
The same but better (for multiplayer
UFO2000 is a turn based tactical squad simulation game with multiplayer support. It is heavily inspired by the famous X-COM: UFO Defense game and can load graphics resources and maps from it providing X-COM look and feel with multiplayer experience.

Really, no.
After Elite (!!) and SIM City and a couple of others, I got into Freelancer heavily about 6 years ago and got stuck. Then I turned to modding and have not had time to play at all for the past 2 years nearly.
Here’s the deal - if you guys decide on a really good game that you will all play often enough to make it worth hosting, and explain to me how to set up a server on our machine for you, so I don’t need to go find out how to do it myself, then I will do it.
What do you say?

Need to think.
Didn’t installed neither that nor another, for one simple reason - these games are live also their servers constantly work
I don’t play already very much for a long time, even in the Freelancer (exclude rare pvp on Discovery of Discovery) because modding is more interesting

Sauerbraten in its “native” form is just like Quake Arena… many modes like CTF & TDM are staples now in most FPS games… but that’s just the beginning…
I’ve seen ppl use it for many other things as well… including a Role playing game (that’s beta used to come with the download as a seperate mod… now its part of the menu system)
About the worst thing is the sheer volume of choice when you start can be a tad overwhelming, so many menus, so many options, but after a few mins tabing through its pretty straight forward stuff & mostly for tweakers & devs ( plus menus to enable/disable the live edit system)
oh… and its VERY moddable as it uses the Cube2 engine & whats better… it comes with sorcecode!!! with some of us crazys onboard… a Starport map (or 3…) can be whiped up… new sounds ect ect… in a matter of weeks (probably less if i got off my bum) It also wouldn’t take much to turn it into a decent style game…
Same goes for the other games i listed… i just picked MP games (xcept DiabloII) that i have torn apart before & made addons for in the past… i also took into account how we all like to be in clans/teams and similarity’s to how freelancer plays/feels ie: open world, different classes of warriors… JKA with the Open Jedi Project is made for a persistent server with players now having a much deeper stat system… but not everyone digs the starwars. For Neverwinter 1&2 there are a few persistent world mods that have been developed & over time handed back to the community for free use (further dev without constraint) best thing about them 2 games is the tools work a charm & making new things is simple… plus… they have a charm like no other RPG when played online on a decent host.
But for free… Im sold on Sauerbraten… just nothing out there as modular & fun to play.

OK, can you get a group together to see the interest and then we can try a test of it on the server?
If that works then your team can help set it up for playing?
