IONCROSS map reveal (really everything revealed?)
-
I play the vanilla version of Freelancer and used
the current IONCROSS Single Player Character
Editor to reveal the map. I did not unlock the closed gates. My question is how the revealing actually works.
Did someone fly the routes manually and visited the bases?
Or are there switches in the savegame, that make bases,
wrecks and jump holes visible? Two things I noticed so far.
System New-Berlin:
- the asteroid field above The Ring is not in the map.
System Honshu
- the planet in the dust cloud between tradelane
to Akita Station and Sigma-13 jump hole in the
right corner is not revealed
I assume that the asteroid field in New Berlin does not
contain wrecks and jump holes so it was not revealed by
IONCROSS. The same thing applies to Honshu. There’s
nothing interesting around the planet in the dust cloud.Does IONCROSS also work with Discovery Mod for map revealing.
One off - topic thing:
Some time ago I wrote about the mysterious “A” which I have
in my chat console. I still haven’t found a way to remove this.
It’s quite annoying because I can’t move the cursor to the left when writing.I thank you in advance for your answers.

You’re better off just running FLServer and Disco Account Manager I think. That has an option to reveal the map.
IFCE will work if you give it Discovery’s gamedata files. Not sure if those files are complete.
The mysterious ‘A’ is something I’ve only noticed since I got Win7 - doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about.

I used the DATA of the revealed map of IONCROSS to apply it for my
MOD via “mpnewcharacter.fl”.
As far as I know the data is from a playerfile the developer used to
apply it in IONCROSS and it ALMOST reveals the Vanilla Map but not
EVERYTHING… can´t give an example what is missing but I think its
not complete… these are just my two cents.just to explain how I THINK it works:
there are flags added to HASHCODES if the player has visited a location… like:
visit = 2428334476, 41these settings are added to the playerfile and woops…the DATA is available to view.
-
when I ran my server, I remember getting several complaints that some wrecks had already been flagged as looted with the Ioncross map reveal, this was because the data was lifted straight from someone’s character file, looted wrecks n all.

Thank you for the answers.
As it seems, the best way is to reveal a map by really
flying to these positions. As a help I use FL Companion
to not oversee some jump holes, fields, etc.The thing with the visit flag is a quite good idea. If it refers
to map positions (I’m no modder, so I don’t know how it works)
one could use a very fine grid for the whole system map
and mark all places as visited. This way the whole map could be revealed, even positions
near stars and suns.Actually I was looking for something like this.
-
Actually it refers to zones and locations via HASHCODE.
For example:
2487604300 is the HASHCODE for “Zone_Ku05_path_golden1_1”
or
2472232707 for “Ku02_space_dome_3”
These are the “nicknames” of locations or objects defined in the INI-Files of a system.
The meaning of the flag “1” or “41” at the end of the line is not
familiar to me… but it works… Thats enough for me… -
I tried the DS Account Manager. It’s a very nice tool.
The reveal map button actually reveals nebulas, asteroid
fields and dark areas around planets, which you actually
can’t reveal by just flying around.Does this mean, that the vanilla version is buggy and does
not set the visited flags correctly. In Omicron Theta for example there are now 3 green nebulas
for artifacts. In Hokkaido you can find asteroid fields. Are these maps additionally modded or are all locations
read in GAMEDATA set to be visited?Even the story jump hole connection from New-Berlin to Sigma-13 are in the universe map.
Can I use the DS Account Mananger to reveal the map in Discovery 4.85?
One thing I noticed is, that even the beginning and ends of the lanes are marked by the trade lane icon in the map.
Btw, do I need FLhook in combination with DSAM?

Thank you for the tools.
With FLHack I actually can unlock the whole map.
It’s quite funny, I’ve been playing Freelancer for some years
now and never knew that the map wasn’t really revealed
completely.DSAccountManager saves the visited places, while
FLHook and console just show the bases, etc.Omicron Theta and several border worlds systems seemed
to be buggy after the final release, as there was never the
possibility to show the nebulas. (I’ve flown every route
manually. It took me about 40 hours.:-) )Nevertheless, thank you very much for your tools.
